  1. We were in port late so was able to have a nice dinner at Raices - I went for the mojitos, lol! Agreed that more time there would be great; San Juan would be a great overnight port!
  2. We have been to Princess Cay numerous times but, like Jan, we just usually set up shop on the beach. We do purchase a clamshell so that we have the capability for shade as well as sun, and we do enjoy getting in the water there. I must say though....Half Moon Cay is nicer, if you have been there.........
  3. Having just been to Puerto Rico and St.Maarten in March I thought that the areas around the port looked pretty good, although on Front Street in St. Maarten there is still a lot of rebuilding to be done. And when we were touring the Yoda Guy's Museum, the power went out and he said that that happens all too frequently still. He had to go out and start his generator to get the lights back on, but his ability to accept credit cards stayed down. We ventured only as far as Casa Bacardi in Puerto Rico and The Old San Juan section was looking pretty good, but I imagine farther out there is still damage.
  4. Since they say Silversea will have to pay...I'm assuming then that there is no pilot that guides them in/out of Key West?
  5. Having experienced the Galapagos on the Celebrity Expedition I highly recommend this cruise to all those who appreciate a unique eco-adventure with fascinating landscapes and wildlife. Celebrity provided the perfect mix of expert education and guidance on the islands with luxury at every turn...and impeccable service to boot! I can't imagine how much more luxury one might need that warrants double and triple the cost for their newest expedition ships, but for those with the means, I say go for it! Otherwise the Expedition is still an option and I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
  6. Great review, Jan - thank you! We debate and debate about trying NCL....I think what would entice us would be a unique itinerary at a great price.......maybe I will start paying a little more attention to what they offer. And when I do I will check with you on the better ships since you have experienced quite a few of them. Glad that you had a nice cruise with your niece - always good to get away!
  7. Wishing you fair skies and calm seas as you embark on the Symphony of the Seas, Robert1956. Please do come back and tell us how it went - we would love to hear your thoughts about that beautiful new ship. ENJOY!!
  8. Wishing you fair skies and calm seas for your cruise on the Carnival Miracle! Be sure to check in with us when you return and - ENJOY!!
  9. Wishing you fair skies and calm seas as you sail off for a nice break - can't wait to hear all about it when you return!
  10. Exactly! My airlines had no idea where I was headed once we landed...they don't "just know" unless you tell them... I think she made that up after it became a problem. I would like to hear the airline's side.
  11. Welcome to CruiseCrazies, Becky! Carnival is definitely a story worth telling, given their somewhat disastrous beginning. I have always believed that leadership can make or break the best (and the worst) of companies; attitude, environment, ethics....everything comes from the top and will determine whether the layers underneath can and will be successful. But....having said that, I have no idea if that applies to Carnival, lol! Surely there must be articles and stories written? By the way - curious to know - is your last name truly Blanton?
  12. I have to admit that this one puzzles me....why did she intend to bring the gun (and ammunition) with her on a cruise in the first place? And why would she think that our gun laws here would apply while traveling? Also, it appears to me that the airline knew her cruise itinerary so she most likely did not direct them to deliver the bag elsewhere or leave it within the airport....
  13. LOVE this, Jason - great information! Did you see those venues - how fabulous!! Thank you.
  14. "Warm Weather Destination!" View full cruise review
  15. Wish I was, Beerthirty! But since we just got back on Saturday from our second cruise this year, I guess we better stay home for a few weeks, lol. Have a great cruise!!
  16. We just returned from Puerto Rico and it is open for business! We were in port late so could enjoy a fabulous dinner in Old San Juan and a stroll in the beautiful weather (after our great tour of Casa Bacardi, of course!) Enjoy your cruise!
  17. We did enjoy the Rooftop Garden Grill and did not feel the cost was outrageous and we got a discount on La Petite Chef due to them cancelling another choice, but felt the experience and food was worth the full cost. We were perfectly happy with the various MDRs, though.
  18. OK - here would be my possibles out of those options (in order of works best to least): 1. Eastern Caribbean on the Edge in January or February - love the 3 sea days on this one because the ship is so fabulous! 2. Ireland/Iceland on the Reflection on July 6 3. Enchanted Princess - in July or August 4. The 10/11-day Italy/Greece Edge one would be hard for me to manage money-wise in 2020, and if Ray is still planning on Greece in 2021 on Viking this one doesn't make sense for me..
  19. Karen - not on these sailings - darn it - but we did the Equinox in the Med and I concur with how wonderful it is! That was an extremely port-heavy itinerary so we did not get to enjoy the ship as much as we would have liked. You now have two great cruises to look forward to - enjoy!
  20. I did order this and have read most of it....for an experienced cruiser there is not much new information. Also....the tips for saving large amounts of money are not realistic for "ordinary cruisers", for example: become a dance host or a contracted entertainer. I do not think this is a scam, but I personally did not find it to be informative or useful beyond what I already knew. Hope that helps...
  21. Gosh ? Thank you for those kind words, Jan! And the feeling is mutual - we love cruising with you and the other CruiseCrazies that we have gotten to meet! Can't wait for our next group cruise in August and hope more people will join us!!
  22. Oh my goodness, thank you so much! I love this community and so enjoy meeting and talking with people about our favorite thing to do: cruising!
