  1. Taking our Grandson to Alaska, roundtrip from Seattle - can't wait!
  2. Happy Rivercruising, Amy & Michael! We took our first river cruise last fall and loved it. Can't wait to hear all about yours!
  3. Thanks you guys! We are looking forward to spending time with our younger daughter and her guy - and I do love this class of ship! Will post a review when I return.
  4. No - this is the new Celebrity Edge class....about 2800 passengers and brand new; it just started sailing in December. And I know, right - we are all leery of all positive reviews BUT this one was all that and more. NOW - having said that....there were plenty of people grumbling about that infinity balcony or the "strange" entertainment or the fact that they use technology for a lot of logistics. But if you are open to a different way of doing things, and entertainment that features dance and acrobatics in addition to great singing and instrumentation, and fabulous food, no matter what we put our mouths....then do give this ship a try! Little things were slightly annoying - such as the single-ply toilet paper or the fact that the Martini Bar is the only lounge to make a decent martini...but to us those could not in any way overshadow the positives about this ship. And even though I found one of the shows to be the "strangest production I have ever seen", I could appreciate the creativity, the beautiful costumes, and the talented performers. Even if it ends up to be "not quite your cup of tea", I doubt very much, having read your posts as well, that you would feel it a waste of a good cruise.

  6. Jackie - they do offer real meats:. Beef briskets, slabs of ribs, chicken, pork chops...all kinds. But the best filet I have had so far was last night in La Petite Chef...a dinner experience where animated chefs prepare the meal right on the plate in front of you. It was funny and charming, and the food was melt-in-your-mouth good!
  7. Here is the shade fully closed and halfway - like right now I am blocking the direct sun. We love the whole thing!
  8. Jan, there is a shade that raises and lowers with the touch of a button. I will get a picture of it. You can stop it along the way as well, so acting as a visor for the sun, etc
  9. Tonight was smart chic...most wore sport coats with/without tie and glittery pants outfits. We ate at Cosmopolitan, another MDR, and again, the meal was excellent! Hard to capture this one in pics, but here are a few:
  10. And the show was great - Kaleidescope!
  11. A great burger, brisket, ribs, sliders, chicken, fish, with sides of fries, Mac & cheese, rice, baked potatoes...you start with appetizers and salads.... We had the warm chocolate chip cookie with vanilla gelato for dessert!
  12. Tonight we saw the production show Kaleidescope in the Theater... refreshingly different and very good! Then dinner on Deck 15 at the Rooftop Garden Grill, under the stars. Again, the setting and food were both excellent! We ate way too much, including the big warm chocolate chip cookie topped with vanilla gelato...oh my!
  13. Jan - yes, this is the infinity veranda and we love it! It makes the stateroom seem so roomy yet you can close the French doors, open the top and have a regular balcony.
  14. Day 1 and I am blown away by the ship and the service...we had dinner at Tuscan, one of the MDR options. I had inquired about one of the pasta dishes but ended up ordering the prime rib. She brought the pasta dish in addition, for Ed and I to share. Everything was delicious and the setting was beautiful.
  15. First impression and we haven't made it out of our room yet, but it's beautiful!! I love it so far - Stateroom #8153
  16. Same here - we are cruising RCI in March and they first started advertising 20% off the drink package but we didn't bite....low and behold, this past weekend it was up to 30% off....we bit. Not sure if it will go higher, but we thought 30% off a fair price.
  17. Thanks, Jackie! Look for the YUUUUGE pictures (since I can't figure out how to post them in a different size...) ?
  18. I will definitely check out the pricing on this ship on Thursday!
  19. I have heard that the Jewel is a nice ship - I'm sure you will have a great time!
  20. 15 days twice: once to Hawaii, roundtrip LA, and once doing the full crossing of the Panama Canal. We LOVE the longer cruises and want to get on a transatlantic, and the 28-day Hawaii/Tahiti sailing on Princess...among others.
  21. Our first cruise was for our 25th anniversary as well....only we had to wait a year because of our daughter's wedding - so technically it was our 26th. ? We did HAL Ryndam in Alaska, which started my absolute love affair with Alaska....
