  1. That is a good idea - thanks for the suggestion!
  2. That's terrific, Linda - what an accomplishment! I would have preferred sailing in and out of San Francisco - that is such a neat destination in its own right. But the rest of the itinerary is the same that we did. It is great to visit different spots in Hawaii without having to hop on planes and check in and out of hotels to see the different islands. This will give you a good overview. Please do come back and tell us all about it!
  3. Welcome to Cruise Crazies, Manni! I noticed that your favorite ship is the Brilliance OTS. I have sailed on her twice and she is one of my favorites as well... And you have gone on 41 cruises - wowee! We would love to hear about your favorites and what you have coming up!
  4. I'm not on this one but have done that cruise roundtrip L.A. on the Golden and loved it - have you done it before? We love the sea days....and of course....we love Hawaii! Hope you have a great cruise!
  5. This looks intriguing...and the prices are quite reasonable. I wish I had feedback from some actual users...
  6. To me it makes perfect sense that Disney would do one-way sailings since you could pair it with a few days pre/post cruise at Aulane Resort! That trip might just have to go on my bucket list! We have done Vancouver to Hawaii on Royal Caribbean twice because we love that itinerary so much!
  7. I will be Diamond on Royal after my March cruise - three complimentary drinks here I come! ?
  8. Have a great cruise, Cruisesnyou! We loved the Celebrity Equinox -and I hope you do as well. Be sure to come back and tell us all about it!
  9. Jsinapijr - thanks for wording this posting in the nonjudgmental, neutral way that you did. There are some who do drink enough to make a package worthwhile, and there are some who would rather just pay up front for everything and not worry about added expenses during the cruise. I have bought the drink package a time or two when they offered a discount on it, and I have taken advantage of it when it has been a free perk. But I did tend to drink more than I normally would with the package, which could be a not-so-good consequence, ha. Having said that.... I do think beverage package prices are getting out of control. I would not choose my cruise line based on an included drink package, however, if more than one of my favored cruise lines are offering the itinerary I want, a plus might be the one offering a free drink package! If prices were comparable to, or even just a tad higher than what I would drink anyway, then I would definitely rather get a package; I can budget for it, pay it, and forget it.
  10. I agree, Jan! Much as I would love this voyage (and would love to have the means to book this voyage,) I am actually happy to hear that the ice is more abundant this year; such is the risk of booking an adventure cruise or out-of-the-norm itinerary.
  11. Welcome Toralou! So glad you found our very friendly cruise forum! Hope you will share your past cruise experiences and tell us about your upcoming ones - we would love to get to know you better!
  12. Crooosin, I will be on the Adventure in March (3/17) so if you haven't gotten one by then I might be able to pick one up for you. Post again as we get closer with an update. Of course I hope you will visit and post often between now and then; we would love to hear about your past cruises and the ones you have coming up!
  13. Yes - Welcome to Cruise Crazies, MIMICSR! You definitely are a seasoned cruiser and we would love to hear about your past cruises and the ones you are planning for the future. Let us know when your review is up!
  14. Hope you have a wonderful cruise, Keith & Rita - please come back and tell us all about it!
  15. Welcome, Peggy and Larry! I'm another Crazie who cruised with Miranda in Norway and the Panama Canal. We would love to have you join us on our Canada/New England cruise; it would be great to meet and share a good cruise with you!
  16. Bon Voyage, Jackie - have a great trip!
  17. I do wish we had added the extra days in Paris - there is so much to see and do! And you will love this itinerary. Be sure to tell us all about it when you return, please!
  18. And as promised, Jan has secured our cabin - so we are "in"! That is one big plus of joining our group cruise, Jan will take very good care of you from start to finish! She really listens to what your preferences are and patiently answers any and every question you might have! She will keep you well informed along the way and make sure you have everything you need to board the ship and enjoy your cruise. You can interact with the group as much or as little as you want, although we are all friendly people and do make good company, lol! ? And we have so much fun planning - won't you consider joining us?!
  19. No, Jackie, you have pegged it pretty well. I dearly missed my cruising time so when we do another one (and I think we will, because rivers do have a beauty of their own,) I will look for an itinerary that has a bit more sailing time. I realized that this itinerary travels only a short distance compared to others and that the focus truly was on the Normandy history. The Rhine might be one we look at, or of course, the Danube. And you are also right - it is rather pricey, even when figuring in that the excursions are included, etc. One thing that I think you would like is the chance to get to know the other passengers fairly well, as you are together on excursions, for meals, cocktail hour, etc.
  20. Thanks, Jan - I feared that my review would make a good sleeping pill for some - it turned out to be so long! I'm glad you found it useful. We did prebook our optional excursions online and no, there were no additional options that needed to be reserved or paid for added once we were onboard. You know, I didn't look at the difference in square footage between a balcony cabin and a French balcony cabin...the balcony was really not "usable space" as such, so if the size of the cabin itself is the same for both, then I don't think you would notice a difference. But if that is not the case, then definitely you would want the bigger cabin. Viking's website has a lot of great info on your ship and your destinations - I'm sure you have perused it already, but if not, it is very helpful.
