WELCOME TO CRUISE CRAZIES -
Celebrity is introducing more modern luxuries alongside its suite 24/7 butler service, including the Celebrity exhale bedding program, with premium mattresses, 100% Egyptian cotton linens, and plush duvets and pillows; BVLGARI luxury bath products; dual iPod/iPad docking stations; reserved theater seating, and an upgraded “welcome” bottle of Blanc de Blanc sparkling wine, complete with a commemorative label featuring exclusive artwork from Art Center/South Florida artists. “Expanding our already broad slate of suite amenities is yet another outgrowth of Celebrity’s deep understanding of how rare and meaningful vacation time is for our guests, so we’re laser-focused on offering the absolute best ways for them to escape from their everyday routine and feel totally relaxed and re-energized,” said Celebrity’s Senior VP of Hotel Operations Lisa Lutoff-Perlo. “Vacationers investing in suites expect – and deserve – a luxurious experience with a generous host of premium services and amenities, which we’ve always been devoted to delivering. And now, we’re thrilled to enhance their experience even further, with additional amenities that match their lifestyle and reflect our modern luxury ambiance.” The new amenities enhance the inclusive premium services and privileges already provided in every category of suites across the Celebrity fleet, beginning with Celebrity’s European-trained butlers, who offer assistance with unpacking and packing, arranging in-suite dining and afternoon tea service or espresso from Café al Bacio, shoeshine service, and assistance booking spa treatments, shore excursions and specialty dining. Additional services and amenities include priority boarding and debarkation, priority boarding of tenders ashore, one complimentary dinner for two (on 7-night itineraries) or two dinners for two (on 8-night or longer sailings) in one of Celebrity’s specialty restaurants, priority selection of dining time, spacious verandas, Hansgrohe shower heads, use of plush Frette bathrobes, over sized 100% cotton bath towels, a pillow menu, fresh cut flowers, daily fresh fruit platter, and a complimentary tote bag. “We continue to hear from guests who’ve sailed with the leading all-inclusive luxury lines that Celebrity’s suite experience is just as spectacular, and represents an even better value,” said Lutoff-Perlo. “And just wait until you see the suites we’re introducing on Celebrity Reflection!” The new categories of suites debuting on Celebrity Reflection in October of this year will feature even more amenities to suit the personalities of each suite category and the guests within them: Celebrity’s jaw-dropping, two-bedroom, 1,636-square-foot “Reflection Suite” with 194-square-foot wraparound veranda will feature what sketches alone are already creating buzz among consumers and press: a fully glass-enclosed – including glass floor and ceiling – shower room extending out over the edge of the ship, offering breathtaking, 360-degree ocean views, a rain shower head and heated bench seat. The industry-first shower isn’t the only area of the suite offering stunning views: the Reflection Suite also will feature 10-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding door, and include a grand piano, dining room table, wet bar, and choice of a complimentary bottle of vodka, scotch or gin with accompanying mixers, all in addition to Celebrity’s existing slate of suite amenities. Celebrity’s new 441-square-foot “Signature Suites” debuting on Celebrity Reflection also will boast stunning views of land and sea via 10-foot-high floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding door leading to a 118-square-foot veranda, and will complement the host of previous and new fleet wide suite amenities with a whirlpool on the private veranda, which is also associated with the “Celebrity Suite” category across the fleet. Guests vacationing in Celebrity’s new “Aqua Class Suites” can enjoy the additional services of a personal Spa Concierge to arrange Aqua Spa treatments; exclusive access to the Mediterranean-themed specialty restaurant, “Blu”, along with Aqua Class stateroom guests; complimentary access to the Persian Garden and Relaxation Room; five-head Hansgrohe shower tower; fog-free bathroom mirrors; custom-blended bath products; aromatherapy diffuser, and on-demand wellness programming on the in-stateroom network, including meditation and yoga. Breaking up the trans-Atlantic season will cruises to the Baltic, Norway, the North Cape, Iberia and Spain. These sailings can be combined with crossings. The Queen Mary 2’s recent refurbishment included décor enhancements in all staterooms and suites, the Canyon Ranch Spa Club, the Queens Grill and Princess Grill Restaurants, the Commodore Club, the Veuve Clicquot Champagne Bar, Sir Samuel’s Bar and Lounge and the children’s Play Zone. Celebrity Cruises has expanded the number of ports in which it offers private shore excursions from 13 to 70. The private tours include a private vehicle with a driver or a driver and a tour guide. Private tours are now available in over 50 ports of call in Europe and over 20 ports of call in Alaska, Bermuda, the Caribbean, Hawaii, the Pacific Northwest and South America. They can be purchased online per-cruise, for either a half-day or full day of exploration. The day’s itinerary is at the guest’s discretion and is coordinated directly with the driver and/or guide on the day of the tour. Celebrity also offers customized arrangements in any destination, allowing guests to create their own itinerary for the day, and, if they wish, include meals and entrance fees to local attractions. The itinerary, arranged in advance, can be flexible in terms of numbers of hours, and is offered in every one of Celebrity’s ports and destinations worldwide. Vehicles for both options generally include a car that seats up to three guests, a van that seats four to eight guests, or a minivan that seats eight to 10 guests. Private shore excursions can be booked online a minimum of four days before the cruise. Custom arrangements can be booked through Celebrity’s shore excursions team, a minimum of 30 days before the cruise. Click here to view the article

Charleston's new cruise terminal has the official green light from the City's Board of Architectural Review (BAR), which unanimously granted final approval to the project's design, according to Peter Lehman, director for cruise development at the Port of Charleston. Wednesday's vote marked the final in a three-step process initiated last summer, when the South Carolina Ports Authority (SCPA) voluntarily entered the formal architectural review process. The BAR previously voted to grant preliminary approval in November and conceptual approval to the project last August. Charleston Mayor Joe Riley praised the cruise terminal's design, calling it a "wonderful transformation" of an existing warehouse and a "great achievement." "What we have now is a very fine building that graces this city," Mayor Riley said during the meeting. The new terminal is the conversion of an existing cargo-handling building into a functional and attractive passenger terminal, and the design is reflective of input received from numerous meetings with stakeholders as well as feedback previously received from the BAR. By incorporating public input and design influences seen around Charleston like siding, louvres and tabby, as well as maritime-influenced railing, the design fits contextually into the rest of the area. Importantly, the conversion of the structure to a cruise operation re-knits the site into the City, replacing the chain link fence that currently surrounds the property with landscaped edges and re-establishing Concord Street through the entire site. The new cruise terminal is the first step in the larger redevelopment of Union Pier Terminal. Click here to view the article
