  1. The ship looks great and it’s been way too long since we’ve sailed one of our favorite Radiance-class ships. With Tampa being so quick and convenient for us, this just jumped way up on our “to cruise” list!
  2. We definitely have “cruise clothes” too – there are lots of pictures of us on different ships but the outfits are repeated often!
  3. Welcome to CruiseCrazies! We all love cruising and this is a great place for help planning your next trip and talking about past adventures!

  5. God tips Jan! We had some very close calls just making the ship on our first two cruises so for many years we always got to the embarkation port the day before – sometimes even if it was only a three hour drive away! Now we’re in a situation where days off from work are very hard to come by. We still recommend to others the peace of mind that comes with getting there a day early – but, for us, we get the best travel insurance we can and often fly same day. We’ve done Florida to Vancouver the morning of departure and we’ve done red-eyes to Europe and went right to the ship a few times. Regarding luggage: the airlines have lost some of our bags in the past but we always each pack half our stuff in each bag. That way we’ve got enough things to last until the missing bag catches up to us. Worst case, we buy a few things and the insurance covers it. Anything vital is always in a carry on.
  6. "We want our sail-away drink and we want it now!" Love this!

  12. Hi Janos, we’ve snorkeled at Grand Cayman a few times, but they’ve always been from excursion boats and I don’t remember anyone ever telling us what the locations were. Our favorite was a three stop catamaran tour through a third-party excursion company where we got to snorkel at a coral reef, snorkel at a shipwreck and swim with the stingrays. There were only 17 people on the tour and it was fantastic!

  14. Sounds great to me! Of course we can’t take three weeks off work…
  15. We enjoy Port Canaveral – it’s really convenient for us – but we’ve noticed one way they make extra money that we haven’t seen at other ports. They charge for a full days parking at both the beginning and end of your cruise, no matter what time you arrive or depart. Since they do so many 3- and 4-night cruises it means they get nine days worth of parking revenue in just seven days!

  17. A meet and greet sounds fun Carol – hope you get a good turnout!
  18. The start of a new cruise ship is always good news! We’ve always thought of P&O as just like Princess Cruises but designed and marketed just for the U.K. Can any of our CruiseCrazies friends across the pond tell us more about P&O?
  19. We like a mixture of both. We’ve found that a cruise without any sea days can be exhausting! On the other hand, we used to sometimes find sea days frustrating – no empty deck chairs by the pool, long lines in the buffet – but over the years we’ve learned the timing to avoid those issues. One thing we enjoy that a lot of people don’t – visiting a port that we’ve already been to a few times. We still go ashore every time, but we can quickly visit our favorite attractions, shops or restaurants and return to the nearly empty ship to enjoy all of the ship-board amenities with no crowds at all! It’s the best of both choices – like having your own sea day while everyone else in port!
  20. All that could really add up to this being a pretty good value! We’ll be interested to learn more!
