  1. Hi Janos, we’ve snorkeled at Grand Cayman a few times, but they’ve always been from excursion boats and I don’t remember anyone ever telling us what the locations were. I looked back at a couple of the descriptions and don’t see the locations mentioned either. Like Jackie said, Cayman is famous for the stingray interaction. Our favorite was a three stop catamaran tour through a third-party excursion company where we got to snorkel at a coral reef, snorkel at a shipwreck and swim with the stingrays. There were only 17 people on the tour and it was fantastic!
  2. Thanks Jerry – keep us posted when you start making plans!
  3. We go many years between hurricanes – they get buried in snow every year without fail. It wasn’t a hard decision for us to leave the cold!
  4. That’s their loss times two – both enjoying a cruise and getting to spend time with you!
  5. I love that all of these big-name shows are coming to cruise ships! We always enjoyed the cruise line created entertainment just fine, but they’re definitely raising the bar! Plus, people who aren’t cruisers are realizing that show tickets, a hotel and meals can cost as much or more than a whole cruise – so that’s good for the industry we love!
  6. Yeah, we get the newsletters, emails and the ability to book under some past passenger rate codes (not all) of lines we have yet to sail – mostly Holland America and Cunard (and Princess before we actually sailed them). Basically the pre-booking benefits of a past passenger. But we haven’t seen anything where we would be entitled to the ship-board perks. Oh well, I guess we’ll just have to go on more cruises to earn those benefits too!
  7. Good tips Jan – thanks! If your cell phone plan is US based, it should work fine without any additional charges in any of the US Territories. In the Caribbean that includes the islands of Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. John and St. Croix. You may even find that the signal is better in these islands than in parts of Alaska or Hawaii. Since most devices can be fully functional with just Wi-Fi now, turn off your cell service and talk to any crew member – they’ll all be able to direct you to the best free Wi-Fi in every port!
  8. Great advice Larry! Yet another fantastic benefit of cruising: it makes spending time with the extended family so much better!
  9. Welcome to CruiseCrazies! We all love cruising and this is a great place for help planning your next trip and talking about past adventures!
  10. You’re absolutely right regarding misconceptions about the weather (we grew up in Wisconsin and Illinois). But let’s not share that outside of the CruiseCrazies family – we don’t want the traffic getting any worse, do we?!
  11. Having been on 12 Carnival cruises we’re grandfathered in at Platinum even though we don’t have enough points (I think we’ve got 64 points). The priority check-in is fantastic! Private or semi-private (depending on port) check-in rooms, right on the ship (if it’s cleared customs), your room is available right away and somehow your luggage makes it to the room before you – amazing! The special line at guest services is also really nice. We’ve noticed that Carnival’s perks are all good on short cruises (one item requires a 5-night or longer sailing) while some of the Royal Caribbean perks are only good on 7-night or longer sailings.
  12. We couldn’t agree more Debbie – cruising is without a doubt the best way to vacation!

  16. When the opportunity to move to Florida came along, the ability to feed our cruise “addiction” was definitely one of the deciding factors – and resulted in lots of short cruises! We sometimes wonder why more avid cruisers don’t move to Florida!
  17. “May or may not have gone overboard” sounds like the technology doesn’t really exist yet…
  18. Wow – lot’s of great itinerary options! This really opens up the choices for repeat cruisers in the New York area!
  19. Welcome home Gene! Thanks for all the good information!
