Wow – almost sounds like a brand new ship! This’ll be fantastic for the Disney fans who have sailed Disney Magic a few times over the last 15 years!

We’ve never been to San Diego. It seems like a great city to spend a couple of days in before the start of a cruise!

For better or worse, Norwegian is definitely an innovative cruise line. As long as there are more traditional cruise lines around too, we’ll keep looking forward to all the new things Norwegian tries!

On our last cruise (Celebrity, not Royal Caribbean, but I think they have the same policies) our table mates were a couple with two kids (ages 11 and 12). For booking purposes they had one parent and one kid in each room but of course switched on board. Since each was booked with a minor the Dad was able to get the drink package even though the Mom didn’t want it. They didn’t abuse it though, at least not in front of us. That’s the long answer to your question Linda. The short answer is, “Yes.”

We’re huge proponents of travel insurance. We’ve taken advantage of it ourselves a few times and we’ve got friends and family who’ve been reimbursed thousands of dollars. We’ll never travel without insurance!

It’s nice to see that Royal Caribbean is doing well – even if we haven’t invested with them. We do have some Carnival stock that’s doing surprisingly well. I was looking to get some more over the last few months but the price never really went down much. Go figure.

Something we’ve noticed: We often travel with groups of family and friends so our cabin is usually cross-referenced with others. Times when we travel alone we seem more likely to get an upgrade. Our speculation is that cruise lines avoid upgrading people in cross-referenced cabins for fear of upsetting their traveling companions if everyone doesn’t get upgraded equally.
