  1. We’ll be watching and reading Tim! Paradise Beach tip: last time we were there, we used the free WiFi to post on their Facebook that we were having a fantastic time – within minutes the manager showed up with a free round of drinks for our group!
  2. We never feel unsafe on a cruise, but I think there’s more to this story. Multiple dogs responded to the same scent, so that pallet or the truck it was transported in were exposed to something. Isn’t that what law enforcement calls a “lead”?
  3. Welcome to CruiseCrazies! We all love cruising and this is a great place for help planning your next trip and talking about past adventures!
  4. I find it interesting that no other cruise lines are jumping in to say they already have such redundancies or quietly announcing similar future upgrades. This seems to show that all cruise ships are based on the same basic design and Carnival may be a victim of the law of averages. They have by far the most ships so they’re the most likely to experience unforeseen circumstances. Does that mean it’s just a matter of time before another cruise line experiences an unfortunate incident?
  5. We’re weird in that we actually enjoy hearing other people’s vacation stories. (We always have to remind ourselves that most people in the “real world” don’t want to hear our stories. Big thanks to all the CruiseCrazies for indulging us!) We read all the reviews we find – mostly we like learning what people did in port. One thing we’ve learned though – people seem to be at least twenty times more likely to post about negative experiences than good ones…
  6. Wow, I really don’t get the doctor’s note. How are “I don’t drink,” and “I was really too sick to come to school,” the same thing? But I do sort of get that cabin mates are required to participate. I’m sure there are studies and statistics that show people traveling together share a similar lifestyle; if one drinks they probably both drink. We both work for pretty big companies and everyone knows we cruise a lot. Hardly a week goes by where someone doesn’t ask us how to get free or cheep booze on board. I have no doubt that many, many passengers would abuse the drink packages every week if they could…
  7. These are awesome Jason! We need to be careful we don’t get too caught up in all the amazing views! It’ll be tempting to check out what port every ship is in every day!
  8. We know there’s no way we’ll have time to see everything we want to in the Med in just one trip – it’ll take at least three! So many cruises, so little time!
  9. We’ve been to Cozumel ten times and our favorite place to go is Paradise Beach! About $12 total for the cab ride to the beach. $2 per person for lounge chairs, beach umbrellas and use of the facilities – including a beautiful huge pool and free wi-fi! $12 per person if you want unlimited access to snorkel gear, kayaks, floating mats, giant inflated water toys and lots more. Very attentive service with reasonably priced drinks and snacks – the margaritas are delicious!
  10. Have a fantastic cruise! We’d love to hear all about it when you get back!

  13. Correct Debbie, no casinos on the river ships, but we never missed them – there’s just so much to see and do! We did see casinos in several of the cities we visited.
  14. Welcome back Joe! Our second cruise ever was aboard Carnival’s Celebration – great memories! Like you, we also had a marvelous cruise aboard Allure of the Seas – you’re so right about it never feeling crowded. Glad you came back to CruiseCrazies!
  15. No complaints here! Remember the “old days” when most of the lounges (on most cruise lines) were just filled with smoke?
  16. We’ll be sailing the Rhine for the first time in November!

  21. I have an aunt who’s nearly 90 and you’re right, she’s an example of someone who’s active, intelligent and articulate. She’s a very elegant writer and I know this because she only communicates via long, hand-written letters. But she has no use for or interest in the internet.
  22. Good question Jason! While we definitely prefer 7-night (or longer!) cruises, the short cruises are vital to keeping us sane in between longer vacations! There’s nothing better than a great price on a quick getaway that doesn’t require using any of those precious vacation days!
