  1. Here’s something we’ve noticed: Using your passport even when you don’t need to can be really helpful. When we’re flying just within the US (say to Las Vegas or Chicago) we still use our passports at the airport and seem to get through everything – especially security – faster than the folks who are using other types of ID!
  2. Have a fantastic cruise! We’d love to hear all about it when you get back!

  8. Great idea Jason – this is a fantastic way to split things up so people can find exactly what they’re looking for!
  9. Great choice! (And I’m sure the hype and publicity won’t hurt anything either!)
  10. This article is mostly about cargo ships but this is really exciting for cruise ships too! It’s going to open up many fantastic new options!
  11. We were on the Neets Bay Bear Watch, but this was on our first Alaska cruise way back in September 2005. Hope you have a great time and get to see lots of wildlife!
  12. There are some really great itineraries mentioned in this story! There’s so much (most!) of Europe that we haven’t seen yet but the price of air is so high we can go on two (or three?) cruises closer to home. And you certainly can’t fault them for putting extra ships in Alaska – that’s an amazing destination too!

  16. Thanks everyone! We loved our Southern Caribbean cruise aboard Celebrity Summit in December so much we just had to book the alternate itinerary for April!
  17. How sad. It sounds like this ship should be a true American treasure…

  19. According to the guides our experience was very unusual (of course). We had much better luck on our second Alaska cruise bear watching at Icy Strait Point!
  20. It takes a lot of people to keep these floating cities running smoothly. I’m sure there are many un-sung heroes!
  21. The first time we visited Ketchikan we took a float-plane to go bear watching – plane ride and sightseeing were fantastic but we didn’t see any bears at all. The second time we didn’t plan anything and just explored on our own – loved the Totem Museum! – and really saw some great scenery and had a fantastic hike!
  22. Thanks Paul! We’ve done whale watching in Hawaii (Big Island) and Alaska (Juneau). We’ve taken helicopters in Skagway (to hike on a glacier) and Kaua’i and a small plane in Ketchikan (to go bear watching). All were fantastic excursions!
