    So that’s young children in the US only. How many sick would that be worldwide of all ages? Millions? Versus a few hundred on cruise ships? Okay, I didn’t actually do any math at all, but it sounds to me like you’re significantly more likely to get sick at your kid’s school’s open house than you ever are aboard a cruise ship! How come that never makes the news?

    The 5-night out of Miami on 4/6/2013 starts at just $402.77 per person (of course the ads say it starts at $299) for an inside guarantee. We’ve found that it’s not unusual for Celebrity to sometimes be less expensive than Royal Caribbean even though they’re considered a premium product. Celebrity Constellation was the first ship of the line we sailed on and we were wowed by the level of service and quality! Highly recommended!

    Yet more examples of cruise lines working with existing land-based ventures to create new experiences at sea. It must be very successful for them, or at least more economical than creating things from scratch. We’ve gone to the adult-oriented comedy shows before; they’re usually a lot of fun. It looks like this’ll just be another twist on that same idea but we’ll definitely check it out next time we’re on a ship with this show!

    We haven’t sailed Grand Princess yet, and we’ve never sailed from San Francisco – sounds like a good combination for a vacation though! Our first cruise to Alaska was with Princess and they did an amazing job. We especially enjoyed all of the guest speakers and local experts they had available throughout the week. We learned so much and it made everything we saw on the cruise that much more rewarding and enriching!

    Okay, so you know exactly what to expect! (We went on our first few cruises back when we lived in Las Vegas as well – so we got hooked on cruising from the middle of the desert!) Have a great trip!

    We sailed aboard Celebrity Solstice in 2008 when she first came out – magnificent ship! This “West Coast Wine Cruise” itinerary is really interesting. Back when we lived near the west coast the only choice was Mexican Riviera or Alaska, nothing in between. I think a cruise would be a fantastic way to explore the entire west coast!

    We can’t recommend cruising to Alaska highly enough! The scenery is spectacular and photos really can’t do it justice. If you’ve got time, adding on a cruisetour gives you a whole different amazing experience seeing more of the state!

    We won’t be on this particular cruise (and we’re not solo) but I wanted to say that we had a fantastic cruise aboard Carnival Miracle a few years ago – you’ll have a great time! Have your previous cruises been solo as well or will this be a new experience for you?

    We don’t have any problem with formal nights – it can be fun “playing dress-up” – as long as the cruise line enforces its own rules so we’re not dining with folks in t-shirts and shorts when we’re all gussied up. We haven’t experienced Cunard first hand yet. Any thoughts or opinions from someone who has?
