Motion sickness is fairly uncommon on today’s cruise ships. New cruisers are actually more likely to worry themselves into feeling ill than to experience symptoms due to the motion of the ship. Encourage your husband to embrace whatever little thing he thinks will make him feel better. Some good ones have been mentioned above; we have one friend who swears by Sea-Bands and another who insists that eating ginger makes them feel better – everyone’s a little different. The most important thing is to relax and enjoy your trip. He’ll probably be talking about your next cruise before the first one is finished!

Small fires and other incidents seem to happen on a fairly regular basis during ship construction, but it rarely seems to effect the completion date. I wonder how big of a buffer is included when the shipyard decides what that delivery date will be?

MSC Cruises has never really been too high on our “to cruise” list – mostly because they don’t come up all that often compared to other cruise lines – but after this news, that just may be changing!

You’ve picked a wonderful first cruise! Monarch of the Seas is a great ship; Nassau and CocoCay are fantastic ports! We won’t be on your cruise but we’ve sailed that itinerary many times. Have a great trip!

Good call Jason! It seems like people are always talking about the news and articles you (and others) post – so “Let’s Talk Cruise!” is the perfect place for them!

We lived in Las Vegas for several years (and go back to visit friends there whenever we can) so shipboard casinos are really “cute” to us. Even so, we’ll still spend a few bucks now and then in between other forms of entertainment – it can be really fun! Amy’s Mom and Dad play in the casino a lot (mostly slots) and usually do quite well!
