  1. Just goes to show, repeat cruisers know what a fantastic vacation cruising is and that things going bad are extremely uncommon. I guess we’re all crazy about cruising, huh?
  2. Welcome to CruiseCrazies! We all love cruising and this is a great place for help planning your next trip and talking about past adventures!

  9. Sounds about right! We can’t wait for our next cruise and we’re already planning more for the near future!

  11. Like many others have said, we prefer the convenience of getting off the ship and going right to our car. We have gotten some good deals staying one night pre-cruise at hotels that then let you park there for the week, but you’re at the mercy of their transportation or you need to get a taxi. One time we chose offsite parking that was advertised as a nice garage but turned out to be a dirt lot; they said they needed to relocate due to road construction. The cars were fine when we got back, but still…
  12. When we sail with Norwegian we dine at the included restaurants for most meals, but we usually try a couple of specialty restaurants along the way (and we usually enjoy the food very much – regardless of the restaurant). Hopefully we’ll get a chance to try this one while we’re aboard Norwegian Breakaway later this year!
  13. This is truly tragic, but the article seems to be written by a lawyer who makes his living entirely by suing cruise lines – so it’s about as far from unbiased as you can get. From our personal observations on almost every cruise we’ve been on, regardless of cruise line, by far the most common cause of underage drinking is parents providing it to their own kids…
  14. This definitely sounds like a novelty – to experience cruising sort of like it was over a hundred years ago – and it is interesting. But the gym, dining room and pool in those pictures don’t look very inviting by today’s standards. Even if she sails different itineraries all the time (rather than just trans-Atlantic crossings) I think it’ll be hard to fill 2600 berths every week or two. In a way it’s kind of like those paddlewheel riverboats cruising the Mississippi, but they hold a lot fewer passengers. Looking forward to watching Titanic II develop though!
  15. Well, we’ve visited Roatan aboard Norwegian Epic (and Carnival Dream). I think the difference is leasing an “island” (CocoCay, Great Stirrup Cay, Half Moon Cay, Princess Cays, Castaway Cay, Labadee) gives you exclusive rights unless you chose to share. On the other hand, footing the bill for the development of a port (Roatan, Grand Turk, one of the docks in Cozumel) gives you priority docking but they can welcome other ships when you’re not there. Now, does anyone know what category Icy Strait Point falls under?
  16. Welcome home! Those Diamond perks are fantastic, aren’t they?
  17. Larry, thank you so much for sharing this story! During this unfortunate incident (as with so many things nowadays, it seems) the media chose to focus on the most sensational, negative elements. Based on our many personal cruise experiences this sounds like a much more accurate account.
  18. She’s a great choice! Royal Caribbean has been very successful with their fully-licensed Broadway productions, so how about some wild speculation? I’m gonna guess they’ll get Wicked for the main show aboard Quantum of the Seas and Kristin Chenoweth will reprise her role as Glenda for one show only during an inaugural sailing that will generate lots of money for charity! (I know, the rights to Wicked are probably way too expensive, but it would be cool, huh?)
