  11. We usually end up cruising the Caribbean at least once a year. Next up, Celebrity Summit round trip from San Juan to St. Croix, St. Kitts, Dominica, Grenada and St. Thomas – can’t wait!
  12. Okay, almost completely unrelated, but “ghost ship” got me thinking: didn’t there used to be stories about a haunted cruise ship? I seem to recall it was a Cunard ship but it may be one that was turned into a hotel and was no longer sailing. Have you heard any stories about haunted cruise ships? Would you avoid that ship if you did hear such things? I don’t think it would scare us off, but we love a good story! (I probably should have started a new topic for this…)

  14. Hi Cheryl! Carnival’s eight Fantasy class ships were built between 1990 and 1998 and have a gross tonnage of 70,367 each. These are the smallest ships currently in use by Carnival Cruise Lines. Majesty of the Seas, part of Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign class, was built in 1992 and has a gross tonnage of 74,077 – so she is similar to the ships of Carnival’s Fantasy class. For comparison, Liberty of the Seas, part of Royal Caribbean’s Freedom class, was built in 2007 and has a gross tonnage of 154,407 – more than twice that of Majesty of the Seas! (It’s so cool that you have a “summer ship” and a “winter ship”! Kind of like the snowbirds that come to Florida, but so much better! )
  15. According to Wikipedia (for what that’s worth) Little Stirrup Cay and CocoCay are one and the same. Royal Caribbean named it CocoCay. Carnival is using the original name of Little Stirrup Cay. Of course you can’t believe everything on the internet, but this seems to be pretty solid…

  21. Depending on the position, crew members make very little money outside of the service charges or “tips” paid by guests. This policy seems to be pretty much in line with what all the other cruises companies do. Just another way they keep the initial cruise price down. Seems fair to me.
  22. Very interesting. It looks like Carnival is only using the name Little Stirrup Cay – not CocoCay, the name Royal Caribbean gave the island when they leased it. I wonder if all the CocoCay signs will come down every time Carnival visits.
  23. The Radiance-class are our favorite Royal Caribbean ships – they’re the perfect balance of size and amenities for us. You’ll love it!
