You’re right about that. We visited Freeport for the first time in September 2002 aboard Carnival’s Fantasy. There must have been at least five ships laid up there – I think three of them were the “Big Red Boats” of Premier Cruises. Very sad to see them wasting away like that…

This is so exciting! Full-transit Panama Canal cruises on newer, bigger ships! Plus, it should open up all kinds of options for the cruise lines moving ships around and creating new itineraries!

Nice review – thanks for sharing! We sailed the same ship and itinerary February 2010 – and had much the same experience! We loved our cove balcony – watching dolphins swim alongside the ship and encouraging folks as they ran for the departing ship in Cozumel – you can’t do that from deck 10! We did book an excursion in Belize (you really can’t go off on your own there) and had a great day snorkeling and visiting a private island. We rented a cabana in Roatan too. It was nice, but we spent a lot of time (as did the people in the other cabanas) telling one person after another that we’d had to pay for the chairs and hammocks they kept trying to use!

Of course you can’t have a whole crowd of people holding up their lighters on a cruise ship – but I’m sure this will be a lot of fun for the fans!

We love all these refurbishments! A lot of great ships offering new experiences – what’s not to love!

I know I couldn’t afford Allure or Oasis prices right out of college! But you’re right – the ships are amazing and have it all! Go for it if you can!

We’re not big enough fans to go for the theme, but we’ve sailed that ship and itinerary and loved the cruise!

I’ll second the Western Caribbean itinerary recommendation for your group – and it’s a safe bet everyone will love cruising with Carnival or Royal Caribbean! If you’re flying to the cruise, Ft. Lauderdale or Miami are the easiest to sail out of. Let us know what you choose! Happy graduation and happy cruising!
