  1. Don't feel bad. I brought a huge 3-in. 3-ring binder on our first cruise. I had every highlighted note from every review I ever read on the ship and every port on the itinerary. If I tried that now I'd need to pay a baggage fee for it - LOL! Nowadays, I've graduated to Dropbox. All confirmations and important info goes in my Dropbox folder stored on my iPhone, with hard copies of the most important in a small accordion style envelope. Quite the downsizing.
  2. I've packed ginger or bonine on every cruise. So far (knock on wood), I've never needed it, but it's good to be prepared. Thanks so much for reading!
  3. I love watching lightening storms from a safe distance. Mother Nature is surely a force to be reckoned with. Photos would be awesome!
  4. Thanks for the info! Regal is on our possible list for the med next summer. Just wish they weren't priced so high.
  5. Thanks for joining us here at CruiseCrazies, April. So glad you found us! Please see what this friendly site has to offer, share your experiences, ask questions and join in the conversation.
  6. I think I wrote this mostly from experience. My husband and I would inevitably return from a cruise and wonder where all the money went!
  7. I agree - there is no better way to escape!
  8. Yeah, the doctor's note is ridiculous. Did anyone see the Travel Channel's segment on Norwegian Cruise Lines? Well, if RCI operates the same way, every ship that sails needs to meet a set figure for alcohol sales. If they don't, that cruise has lost money - or something to that effect. Booze is the second biggest money maker on a cruise, after excursions, and selling 2 drink packages per cabin is going to be more profitable than selling one. Crazy, isn't it?
  9. I agree, Rose. If I wanted a carnival, I'd just go to Six Flags! It's sure to be popular with families.
  10. I remember reading that rule when the package came out, and how it has to be purchased for each person in your cabin, which is a huge rip-off if you ask me. Maybe if enough people complain, they'll change that ridiculous policy.
  11. We all need a break now and then, and I hope whatever it is that's got your attention is bringing you happiness and not stress. Look forward to seeing you back soon!

  18. Good idea, Jason. That way the reader doesn't have to go fishing through old emails!
  19. I hear you. We are spending big bucks on a flight-seeing excursion to see bears in Alaska, which is why I will most definitely be avoiding the art auction and casino this time around. I hope I can get my husband to do the same.
  20. Gee, I hope no one thinks I called them cheap - LOL! By all means, if you can - then go ahead and splurge, absolutely. These were simply suggestions for people trying to stay within a budget, and also to remind readers that they can still have a great vacation without breaking the bank.
  21. Thank you for taking time to read this! I, too, have taken some great independent, small group tours, the most recent being in Scotland last summer. There are definitely some cases where a ship excursion makes sense, though, like the time we went to the Tulum ruins from Cozumel, requiring a ferry and land transport. I wasn't willing to take the risk of missing the ship. As it was, the crew were getting ready to roll up the gangplank when we arrived back.
  22. Thanks for the report. We'll be sailing out of San Francisco on 7/29 to Juneau, Glacier Bay, Skagway and Ketchikan, then to Victoria and back to SF through August 8. Looks like I better be prepared for anything!
  23. That is so exciting - a new ship that I can drive to!
