Seems like every time I enter the room, I'm all alone.

I'd like to mention that I wrote and posted this review on another community site in 2010. Just wanted to add it to the roster here on CruiseCrazies. Except for the no-smoking policy now in force, probably not much as changed - and I think folks may find it helpful and relevant today.

We always buy insurance, as well. First, because of our aging and ill parents. Now that they are no longer with us, we are the aging parents. Six years ago, on a land vacation on Cape Cod, I fell and double-fractured my ankle on the very first day of the week. I spent three days at Cape Cod hospital, with surgery to put it back together, and went right back to the cottage with a cast, a boot and a pair of crutches to finish out the week. I hate to think what might have happened if I had been on a cruise. Excellent reason to purchase insurance.

Being loyal to Princess, we were originally going to book the Royal in the Mediterranean this summer, but decided on the Grand to Alaska instead. Next year, we are considering her sister, Regal, to the Mediterranean. Honestly, though, it's pricey compared to a similar cruise on Celebrity, so I don't know ... I think the new ship will be beautiful. I love some of the improvements - the much roomier Atrium, expanded International Cafe (Princess' best creation yet!), Alfredo's Pizzeria, and that to-die-for pastry shop. I also think "Princess Live TV Studio" is a good concept. On the other hand, I will miss the adult "Aft" pool (the best place on the ship IMHO), and the complete wrap-around promenade. One area that could have been made larger is the theatre. Princess Theatres, in my opinion, have always been small for the size of the ships (Emerald, Ruby, etc.)
