Sometimes better means sacrificing old favorites. While I like some aspects of the new Royal (expanded atrium and International Cafe and the new pastry shop), I will sadly miss the adults-only Aft pool - a quiet place to nap or take a dip without the blare and noise of MUTS and all the commotion center ship.

It is refreshing to read a more uplifting account of the experience, although I was a bit confused with her story of being so hungry that she ate someone's discarded hot dog (was it picked out of the garbage?), while previously mentioning that there was plenty of food on board. I guess three hours IS a long time to wait in line for food!

Michael & Amy - you are so right! Why is the cruise industry unfairly singled out by the media? And I don't agree that this is the "black eye" on the industry as this story reports. The Triumph was a very unpleasant and unfortunate occurrence and the Concordia was a human error fatality causing loss of life - both definite scars on the cruise industry. Noro virus is what happens when you have sick people infecting others within a community of many people. A bad cruise for the ill, for sure, but not a lot you can do about it, except preventive measures. Can happen anywhere.

A wee dram (or two or three!) outside in the middle of a beautiful misty hillside in the Scottish Highlands with our small group and tour guide while on the Princess "Ireland/Scotland" Interlude last summer. Left us with a warm and fuzzy feeling for the rest of the day!

Our longest will be our upcoming 10 day Alaska cruise from San Francisco. I am shooting for a 14-day, but that's the max for us at this time. I could not possibly take off more than two weeks in a row from work. The boss would have a hissy fit.
