  5. Welcome! I know there are some fellow Carnival fans here, so hopefully some of them will join you. ?
  6. Thanks for posting your review of the Getaway, Eue. I agree, Margaritaville was never crowded and we found it to be a great experience for breakfast. I think because of its remote location, many people didn’t think about going there, which was fine by me! ? I was surprised to hear about the bad service in the Haven. I’ve never booked a Haven Suite before, but have heard that the Haven suites on the Epic are the best in the fleet. i, too, heard that NCL was eliminating towel animals, but one appeared in our cabin every night without asking. Maybe it depends on the ship. I hope you brought up your Haven issues with your travel agent, who will know the right people to contact to voice your concerns.?

  9. Congrats on your first cruise. You will love the Dawn. ? We did Bermuda last summer from Boston. Check out my review and let us know if you need first time cruise tips.
  10. Keep on counting, Andi. I've been so busy, and it's going to creep up on me before I realize it. Knowing how many days I have left to get ready makes it all real! ?
  11. This is an exciting new enhancement for Caribbean Princess, attractive for kids and families without having to embark on one of the huge mega ships of the other lines. While my husband and I won't have little ones with us when we embark on her in August, and won't be spending much time in the new water park (other than to see the new features), I am looking forward to some of the other new features - the new "Slice" pizza bar, the new modern look of the buffet, two new specialty venues to perhaps try out - BBQ and seafood, and most especially the Medallion features! Well done, Princess! By the way - if you want to see any of these great new features up close and in person, there are still cabins left on our upcoming CruiseCrazies group Canada/New England cruise August 9th, sailing from Quebec City to New York. Click on the info link in my signature for more info. ??️
  12. Did anyone have Cuba booked on a future itinerary? If so, tell us what your cruise line is doing? Canceling and refunding? Changing up the itinerary? While I didn't have one booked, I had Cuba on my wish list, and now that cruises and people-to-people visits are no longer allowed, I'm kinda sad I didn't move on it sooner.
  13. There are still a number of interior cabins left for our Canada/NE cruise, now , plus tax, and you’ll get $50 to use onboard. Book yours while they’re hot!? https://7seajourneys.com/mbg/canada-and-new-england-summer-cruise-2019/
  14. Congrats on your upcoming cruise! I think it all depends on what you’re looking for. It’s not as extensive as some of the other private islands, but for me, it’s great. I just need a chair in a spot of shade and I’m good. You don’t need to spend money on an excursion or anything else unless you want a cabana or a boat rental, etc. Get off the ship early and you’ll have your pick of loungers on the beach, free of charge. The BBQ is free, but you still have to pay for drinks. The snorkeling isn’t bad, and I bring my own gear. Here is the best guide you’ll find anywhere: https://www.tomsportguides.com/uploads/5/8/5/4/58547429/princesscays-01-20-2015.pdf Have fun!
  15. This is a great feature in helping to make the cost of a cruise vacation easier to swallow! Many agents will do the same for their clients, on any cruise or land trip, making payments as needed, but having the cruise line set up an automatic payment plan makes it even easier and stress free.?
  16. Wow, Gerry - you’ve got a beautiful Blog! Thanks for sharing your info on St. Thomas. I’m glad to see the areas hit hardest by Irma starting to come back including St. Maarten and San Juan. I’ve only been to St. Thomas once, about 10 years ago, and it’s definitely time for a revisit.
  17. No summer vacation plans yet? There are still cabins available for our Canada/New England cruise, now pricing at $976 and up (tax n/i) or book with the Princess May Sale and get a great rate, gratuities included and some bonus onboard credit! 18. Thanks for your take on the Seaside. My husband and I were just discussing this ship this morning and MSC’s drive for more US cruisers. He is eager to try MSC. I’m not a fan of the super mega-huge ships, especially this one designed more like floating condos, but I admit that I am curious about MSC and may give it a try. I have friends sailing in Europe this summer on Lyrica and will be interested in what they have to say about the MSC ships in Europe.
  19. I've read some very sad news from Alaska this morning, involving the collision of two Alaska float planes - one a ship-sponsored Misty Fjords excursion from the Royal Princess, and the other privately chartered by 4 passengers from the same ship. It's confirmed that the four passengers and pilot from the small charter have all died. There have been varying reports, but this one seems pretty accurate - read more here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2019/05/14/five-dead-one-missing-after-sightseeing-planes-collide-alaska-cruise-line-says/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.545bee24f35c
  20. I just read about this story - what a horrible tragedy. I'm sure many of us have had the pleasure of experiencing one of these beautiful floatplane rides in the Alaska skies, and to read about this collision is so unbelievably sad. (Note: This article should have been posted under "Princess News" as no Royal Caribbean ship was involved.) I've been following updates, and it's been confirmed that the 4 passengers and pilot from the independent flight excursion have all died. My thoughts and prayers to all those injured and those who won't be returning, as well as their friends and families.
  21. I'm excited to be seeing the ship up close and personal when we cruise the Mexican Riviera on the Joy next March! ?
  22. Good question! There is a Level 4 travel warning by the State Dept. for Haiti. I haven’t heard of any cancellations, but you should contact the cruise line to see what the plan is. Have a safe cruise!
  23. Hi Everyone, I emailed Miranda and Andi, but if anyone else is on this cruise - or thinking of joining our CruiseCrazies group - I would love to put together a group of 10 for a private Cabot Trail drive from Sydney, with Cabot Discovery Tours. I waited too long to book the ship tour which is now sold out. However, I like the idea of a small private tour for up to 10 people with their mini Cabot Trail Tour, and they get great reviews on TripAdvisor. The price for the vehicle is $900 and divided by 10, it's $90 per person, which is far better than the $179/pp cruise ship price. If you've already booked the ship tour, you can cancel it without penalty. Let me know if anyone's interested.
  24. I finally got around to reading your review, Andi - thanks for sharing! I think your right in that Royal’s “smaller” large ships seem to be taking a back seat to the Allure, Symphony, and all the new mega ships n the pipeline, which is regrettable. I’m glad to read about the advances in quality of the food. That was probably my only complaint about the Brilliance a few years ago, though I did like the food station setup. I have yet to go to San Juan, but hope to someday in the near future. My heart aches for their hurricane destruction, as it does for St. Maarten. The cruise port was definitely a priority in the rebuilding process for both, and and hotels and resorts in St. Martin/St. Maarten are slowly coming back, but a lot of work still needs to be done. I’m glad to hear you made a “contribution”.? I have not heard of “Yoda Man”, but will definitely look him up next time in the island, as there many Star Wars fans in my family, including my grandson, Alex. He’ll be turning 6 tomorrow, and the first thing he wants for his birthday is to finally see the movie!
