RCI Vision of the Seas Bahamas cruise Jan 5, 2019
Jan115 replied to KeithnRita's topic in Roll Calls and Group Cruises
According to RCI’s latest blog post, the new pier completion was pushed back yet again and won’t be finished now until March. So looks like you’ll be tendering, though I’ve heard some have not been able to render recently because of high winds, or have been re-routed somewhere else altogether. Either way, enjoy your cruise and tell us all about it when you return!? -
Two secret code words that cruise ship employees routinely use
Jan115 replied to Jason's topic in Let's Talk Cruise!
Don’t feel disconcerted. As John pointed out in another post above, the article comes from the UK, and the writer of the article is talking about UK (and maybe Europe and Aussie cruising, too). The article doesn’t specify destination or cruise line, but some cruise lines abroad don’t impose the auto gratuity (P&O, for example), and tipping is optional. So apparently the code words are for those who do not volunteer a tip, and maybe these secret words are only used on a couple of specific cruise lines. -
What!?! Where did you read such blasphemy? ??? I have not heard anything about this. Is this from Carnival’s official FB page, because I saw nothing about it there. I’d love to see the towel animal that offended them. Did they post a pic? If so, please share.?

Good point, John, about the UK news. Now it all makes sense.? -
Thanks for re-discovering CruiseCrazies!

Smart girl! A lot of savings can be had with an inside cabin. I made the mistake of cruising in a minisuite on my first cruise, and then an interior quad with our 2 daughters, which pretty much swore off inside cabins for us. However, we have actually booked interior cabins to start off, but then eventually upgraded ourselves when a good offer for a balcony came along.

Actually, you can get Carnival’s future cruise offer at the shore excursion desk or through the CCL onboard mobile app (FunHub). If you’re unable to, or forget to do it, you can book with a travel agent within 2 weeks of returning home - they will have a special booking code.

I just ran across an article in my FB feed by the Bahama Press that Princess Cruise’s private island of Princess Cays was gutted by fire this morning - how awful!? Photo by Bahama Press

I'm happy to announce that the Caribbean Princess is the first ship to become OceanMedallion ready, and we will have the opportunity to enjoy a Princess Medallion Class experience first hand! For more information on what you can expect, watch the video and take a look at the MedallionClass Overview flyer. Video: The OceanMedallion Video: MedallionClass Overview

Yes, one of the downsides of Princess, no sofas in the standard balcony, outside and interior. Deluxe balcony, minis and suites have the sofa. I don’t find the cabins to be any smaller than the other lines, though you’d have to check the square footage.

Eeeewwww! I feel itchy!? Just curious, on what ship was this?

I know we're starting to think excursions, and I noticed that Princess does not have the excursions available yet for our cruise. However, I do have other resources for pre and post-cruise transfers/tours and excursions to get you started: Check out my Shoretrips link for our cruise. They have excursions, pre/post-cruise tours and transfers, and I like that they offer some private ones, which would be affordable if we can get a bunch of us interested in the same thing (right now, we're just 5, but hopefully we'll have more). They also sometimes offer some unique tours that the cruise line doesn't, and they are trusted and reliable. Project Expedition. Quebec City airport transfers, hotel transfers, cruise ship transfers; post-cruise New York City for cruise/airport transfers, tours, etc. Viator: Quebec City and New York City- shared or private airport/cruise/hotel transfers; shared and private tours.

So sorry to hear about your Mom. It must have been a difficult time for you - thoughts and prayers to you and your family. How great that the lead singer is still performing with cruise ships 20 years later. I know several musicians who have done cruise ship gigging, and it's not a glamorous job and hard way to earn money for most, and I don't know of any who have survived cruise ship performing for very long. Your photos must have brought back some fond and bittersweet memories for him. I'm glad to hear you had a great B2B even though the ports weren't the best. You two always look like you're having a great time from your photos, and I bet you would be a fun couple to cruise with. Hope to see you both on board one day!??️ -
Kim, I'm sorry to hear about your career cut short by 9/11. I can imagine how devastating it must have been for you, but glad to hear you are back in the cruise industry again. Many of our CruiseCrazies are big fans of Princess, including myself. In fact, we have a group here going on the Caribbean Princess on August 9th, Quebec to New York, if you or anyone you know would like to join us. Will you be working the agent or group call centers at Princess, as well? If so, we might meet over the phone one day!?
