This is worrisome, and the fact that Norwegian will have its two biggest ships (the Bliss and Joy) in Alaska, and Royal Caribbean will have ginormous Ovation of the Seas there, as well, next summer 2019, doesn’t hold much hope for better quality air in Alaska’s future.

In all honesty, I don’t know of very many parents requesting in-cabin babysitting for their kids. I wonder if discontinuance is due more to a lack of demand. Most families choose to spend time with their kids or bring family and friends to trade off care of the kids.

Andi - thank you for taking the time to pen the most informative and comprehensive review of a river cruise I have ever had the pleasure to read. You covered all the bases and gave an excellent overview as to what to expect as a first-time river cruiser. I know you are a planner like I am ... did you book all your tours in advance? Were there tours available to book on the cruise that were not available to pre-book? For my own upcoming first Viking river cruise, I splurged for the balcony because the square footage in the French balcony cabin made it seem so tiny. Were you able to peek in on one, by chance, while you were on board? I am glad to hear Viking took great care of you, and now I can’t wait for my turn!

Norwegian Escape, which also does the 7-day Bermuda, is heading south to Bahamas, too. I imagine there will be some disappointed guests who were looking forward to Bermuda, but it’s one of those unfortunate hazards of cruising during hurricane season.

Yeah, my husband walked out of the room after about 10 minutes. I stuck it out, hoping it would get better, but all I found were an unbelievable plot and some unlikeable characters. Nice ship, though!

The upgrade is automatic. In other words, it gives you the higher cabin category at the lower price; i.e. a BB at the price of a BE, for instance. So when I look at the pricing on my end, I see that BE, BD, BC and BB are all the same price with the promotion. By the way, a mini, a suite or any cabin category you don't see listed can be booked - you're not limited to the cabins I held.

It's hard to say. I think it depends more on interest here and the number of members we can reach, but this is a great promo. With this 10-day cruise, you get anywhere from $75 per person onboard credit for an interior cabin to $150 per person for a balcony. Plus, with the upgraded cabin, you'll get up to a 4-category upgrade, depending on category. For example, a BB balcony cabin is the same as the lower BF. I just blocked out group space, am putting together a flyer, and will post it when I'm done.
