Yes some interesting ideas here. The mini Sub looks great but with only 2 guest able to use at one time how many guests will be able to use this during a cruise? Lets say it takes 30 minutes for two guest, from start to end, and day time operation only and not while cruising.... Seems like the demand will out weight the available time to use. Underwater Lounge, another really neat sounding idea but really what will you be able to see? Maybe some dolphin swimming along around the bow wake but very little else. It will be really hard to keep the viewing ports clean, after a few months of operation the sea will cause many viewing problems I believe. Robot bartenders- The cruise line will now be using what really is a self service vending machine. It great cut crew and staffing costs, and makes for a interesting show, But why do they charge a service gratuity fee on the drinks?: Will Royal be charging a service charge on the generators in the future too? Robotic Bartenders are self self and allow Royal to cut costs... so they should not charge a service fee on product from these machines. A service charge for a machine a new low for Royal.... Like I said these things sound great but once placed on the ships how much use and benefit will they really be for most guests.

"Fincantieri Marine Group, Fincantieri's U.S. subsidiary," Maybe it is time the US Government looks at the Cruise Industry and how the big three cruise lines operate within the Untied States as foreign corporations with ships flagged in foreign countries..... Using these loopholes to avoid the payment of taxes and to allow ships to be built in foreign countries that do not meet the US Safety standards and inspections.... Currently 50% of the cruise industry comes from the United States... with only a small number of US Flagged and crewed ships. Time to bring the building of ships back to the United States. Not allow corporations like Fincantieri to form US sales arms and take jobs and business away from US Companies. If Newport News Shipbuilding can build the world's most advanced Aircraft Carriers for the United States Navy they would have no problem building World Class Cruise Ships.

What some call spin others call the truth. In this case I feel sorry for the bears who have done absolutely nothing wrong. They are protected wild animals that should be left alone.

Going after straws is really just a feel good window dressing thing. If you are really considered about plastic in the Oceans look at the real problem. We have 197 Countries in the World but if you take just five of them in Asia they dump more plastic into the Worlds Oceans than the other 192 countries combined. So why not go after the real problem these five countries China, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam ? Because the people pushing these PC causes really do not care about the issues they care about self promotion and feeling like they make a difference. Proof of the facts stated above about these five countries can be found in the 2017 Ocean Conservancy report. So if people want to lie to themselves and believe banning straws will really help go ahead that is your right but don't push your false claims that you are really helping solve the problem. If you really wanted to see a change ban all product importation into the United States and the EU from these five countries until they reduce dumping by 50%. See how long it would take for real change to happen? The answer is overnight. But when people could no longer buy the latest I Phone, or other branded products because of the ban, they would stop caring about the problems of plastic in the oceans. Do we really want real change or just to feel good about our efforts?

I have to agree with Jan here. " So by this logic if someone walks into a bank to rob it and a security guard draws his gun the robber can shoot the guard in self defense? Saying nit was self defense..... the robber cannot because he caused the reason for the guard to draw his gun. Then the cruise line employees landed and entered the bears territory these actions caused the bear to react to the humans. Polar bear cubs are born November through January. Mother and cubs emerge from their den in late March or April. So you could have Cruise Ships landing passenger with clubs around. Can you really blame the bear here for defending its home and territory? Sorry it was clearly the fault of the actions of the crew that cause this unneeded death.

The first Destiny class ship I cruised on was the Carnival Destiny for a 7 day Eastern Caribbean cruise from Miami in 1998. At the time she was the largest cruise ship in the World we looked around and thought how much was put within this ship. At the time you thought how can you get bigger and better than this? So when I read: The makeover will "put a ship into our fleet that has as many features as newer ships, and I think guests react to that," Antorcha said. It really makes you think how far we have come as passengers and the Cruise Industry as a business in the last 20 years. In another 20 years will they be saying today's 230,000 ton cruise ships are lacking features? On feature most lines seem to be missing these days is building ships that look like ships and not over sized floating barges.

Polar Bears are territorial by nature, it is clear the ships tour was looking for or seeking to find Polar Bears, how many paying guest would be happy to go on a polar bear tour and never see any bears. So it is clear the group was trying to seek out bears. Now on to the second part just by landing in the territory of the bears they tour disturbed the bears, Polar Bears are hunters they spend most of their time hurting for food. Anything within their area they can consider to be food. If the guides did not disturbed the bear it would not have attacked. Is is very clear the Cruise Line was not operating within the regulations in place. You talked about the people living on the Island, which is completely different. A town or settlement with people is in a fix area, not dropping of cruise passengers on a shore of a area with know populations of bears. Also the locals know how to deal with bears, even locals know to respect them. Sorry the Cruise Line loses this one.

Yes it looks like a good cruise and this company is a complete cruise no extra charges. But it still seems to be a little high at almost $550 dollars per day per person. Also the ship size at 50,000 GT, it is not a small personal ship like Seabourn Cruises and not a mid size ship. My own personal taste would be to larger ship in size. Some of the open water crossing could be a little hard in a smaller ship. I don't see a World Cruise in the near future for me.
