jbond
I've been reading threads on other boards where people have claimed to take 1500-1600 photos on a seven day cruise. That's around 220 a day, if you are awake 15 hours a day, that's about 14 an hour or one every 4 to 5 minutes!!! Besides the logistics of it, what do the photograph? What do they do with them all? I thought that I took a lot of photographs, about 30 -35 a day when I used film, about 25-30 a day when I switched to digital. With digital I actually take more, but do an immediate "dump" if I don't like it. How many photos do you take and what do you do with them? BoatrideLover
With a regular camera, I tend to shoot about one roll a day. On a 4-day cruise, I come home with 4 rolls of film. On a 7-day cruise, I come home with 7 or 8 rolls of film. I also take tons and tons of digital photos, which I immediately start e-mailing to people when we get back home. I have a huge photo album for each cruise that I fill with all of the photos. We will also come home with a video from the cruise, anywhere from 1-2 hours in length. sailingrose
When I went to Alaska we shot 15 rolls of film, 24 exposures each. That's the most we ever used.
Lisa63
We also take about a roll of film a day. On our last trip, we also brought along a digital camera and took about 100 additional photos on a 6-day crossing on which there were no port stops. One thing I've noticed over the years is that I now take many more photos of the ship than I used to.
Slainte
Ever since getting a digital camera I take many more shots. Last seven day cruise I brought along my laptop and would download the pix every night. I would say I took anywhere from 20 to 40 pix a day. I also buy a disposible underwater camera for those days on water excursions.
rccruisers
Confession time...LOL, we take way to many pictures. We have a movie camera, digital camera, and camera that takes film. Our digital takes movies as well...so we find we carry the digital with us more. We have albums of each cruise and have taken the same picture of the same place but hey....some of these spots are just "picture perfect". My weakness though is the ship itself....inside decor, when we are tendering to the ship or see it at a distance. We like to take pictures of new friends and the crew, also. When I get the albums out I think I have actually stood in the same place, LOL...and taken some of the pictures. It is fun though...and lots of memories in those snap shots. Before we got the digital camera we took 12-15 rolls of pictures on an 11 day cruise, 8 rolls on a 7 day, 3-4 rolls on a 3-5 day and 3 movies. We still take the film camera and movies but digital can be deleted if bad...sent to others when we get home and we can do the printing. (3 cards) Only one underwater camera is taken most of the time. A lot depends on sea days, the ports, and the weather.
KeithnRita
We take from 75 to 100 (3 to 4 rolls) of film on a 7 day cruise. We have them developed on a CD as well as film. We also take a video camera. A couple of cruises ago we bought a digital miniDV in St. Thomas that also takes digital stills. We can convert video stills off the film at a later date. This camera was stolen on our last cruise with video of Keith parasailing over Half Moon Cay and the Zaandam. We replaced it thru e-bay--but, of course, not the film. We have met a lot of people on our cruises and have shared photos over the years thru our photo site: http://members2.clubphoto.com/keithrita209115/guest-1.phtml
PEB
It depends on where we are cruising. When in the Caribbean we took very few pictures. In Hawaii we took a couple hundred. In Alaska the most we have taken was 45 rolls of 36 pics and three video tapes. The least we have taken in Alaska is 20 rolls of 36 pics and three video tapes. Alaska is always changing and with all the wildlife, whale watching and glaciers constantly changing we go through a lot of film there. Jason
On most cruises I've been on, I usually take somewhere between 20-40 photos...depending on how badly I wanna carry around the camera. However now that I have a camera phone, it's much easier to take photos: The last 2 cruises that I brought my camera phone with me, I took about 50 each cruise. Of all the cruises I've been on, I think I have a picture of every single part of every ship and every island by now....it's hard to find a unique photo opportunity these days!
rogue
When we were in Alaska last month, we shot about 650 shots with our digital cameras. We didn' come home with that many because I did delete some as we went along. When I finally printed them, I printed about 250. With a digital, just keep shooting. Howard
