KeithnRita
We revived this thread from the old forum: In our case it was our delayed honeymoon, eight months after the fact in 1997, on the Carnival Sensation. After typing in 'cruise' in CompuServe we ended up on a cruise bash with a group of about 75 folks from all over the US and Canada, and including one couple from Belgium. About half of us met each other for the first time in a hotel bar in Miami the night before the cruise. The party continued for seven more days! Our first night on board we slept until 3:00 p.m. The rocking motion of the ship caused us to sleep like babies! We still get razed about that to this day! JohnG
I had spent 20 years in the Navy and enjoyed the time at sea. I always thought it would be fun to cruise when I didn't have to work and stand watches. When we were married we went to a snowy mountain resort for our honeymoon and for our first anniversary. Then we tried Cancun for a couple years. Then we tried a Princess cruise ...... it is now 47 cruises later. And it convinced me when it was time for a career change 5 years ago, to become a travel agent specializing in cruises.
BoatrideLover
When I was a little girl, our next door neighbors cruised twice a year. Back in those days (in the 60's), our neighbors could have friends on the ship right before they sailed for a bon voyage party. We would always go. We could go on the ship with them at noon, and had to be off one hour before the ship sailed. They always had the suite and would have hors d'ouevres and drinks. I can remember standing on the open deck by the railing and just falling in love with the concept of cruising!
PEB
Our first cruise was taken to see a total eclipse. I had absolutly no interest in cruising and was more or lessed bugged until I agreed to cruise. We took the cruise only because the cruise line said it would move the ship to find open sky. Well the ship did have to move to find open sky for the eclipse and we had a great time and were hooked on cruising.
cruisegirl
I remember years ago when the Carnival Celebration came out my cousin was booked on it for a cruise. Back then when the cruise was in port and you were a booked guest you could visit the ship until noon. He took me to see it and that was it for me...all I wanted was to take a cruise. Well many years passed and I never did cruise but finally in Sept. 2001 I took my first cruise and was hooked!! I went again in 2002 and 2003 and now am booked for 2004. I am trying to figure out how I can take at least 2 a year. Wish me luck!

rccruisers
It was our anniversary ...and we wanted to do something real special. Bill called his step sister that lives in Florida and she suggested a Southern Caribbean and taking Royal Caribbean Cruiseline. Well...we had a ball on the Monarch of the Seas and met so many nice people. Still email those people today and talk on the phone. We are just hooked...cannot find a better vacation anywhere!!! :D
GottaCruz
Our kids were 2 and 8 years old. We had gone to a hotel in Florida for the weekend and it was such a disaster. There were no other kids for them to play with. They were soooo bored and we didn't have a moment's peace or relaxation. My folks had been cruising for years and suggested we give it a try due to the camp programs they had on the ships. I was nervous about being on the ship with 2 kids but it turned out great. Camp Carnival was a dream come true for us. The kids were busy with camp constantly and that left us time to relax and spend time alone. That 1st cruise hooked us and for the above reasons we've always done Carnival but now that the kids don't need the camps anymore, we really do need to try the other lines. Soon, I hope.
