Pammie
My mom had taken many cruises and told us that we would enjoy doing one. So that is what got us started crusing. We heard her tell us how much she enjoyed it so we thought we would try it and thats how we got hooked. Joe & Pammie
Shari2
My folks were going on a cruise with some friends of the family, and my mom asked me if I wanted to go along. My first husband had died about a year before in a car accident, and I think mom wanted me to get out and have some fun. I had been living alone with my then 5-year old daughter, and I really didn't want to leave her, but my in-laws wanted her to come and stay with them for the week, and she wanted to go see Grandpa and Grandma, so I decided to go. I had been watching the,"Love Boat," show, and was thinking how nice it would be to cruise, so I said I would go. We went on the,"Carnivale," and I was surprised that it wasn't quite the same as the,"Love Boat," but I had a great time. I'm really glad I went on that first cruise, as I met some really nice people and had a great time, got to see the world, and most of all, it helped me to move on with my life, and it gave me a great love for the sea! rogue
Back in 1975, my nursing school took a senior class trip every year, and ours was to be a Caribbean cruise. We left from NY on the old Leonardo Da Vinci. This was quite a classic ship, but unfortunately, I don't remember too much of the ship at all. What I did remember was the tremendous time that we all had on the cruise. My wife was also on the cruise, but we were not even dating yet. When our 20th anniversary came around, we decided to cruise and booked a cruise on the Nordic Empress to Bermuda. This was our 1st real vacation withouth kids, and we loved it. We decided to cruise to Alaska for our 25th anniversary, but we were so hooked that we have already taken 2 other cruises between our annivarsary cruises. Now were up to 1 per year, and climbing. Howard
boba
:cheesy: My wife and I were checking on trips to Florida, and we kept seeing ads for cruises, so we tried RCI Voyager of the Seas. We loved it. We now have two more cruises booked, and plan on many more. Yeah, we're hooked.
elle
Wow it seems so long ago. Thinking hard.....15 years I think to be exact...lol was a quick 3 day on Carnival MARDI GRAS....was my 1st time flying or vacationing for that matter. Was dating this "guy" for over 2 years we decided to get away and see how we did "away from life here". We went on many cruises after that...seems like year after year we would add on days pre or post cruise. Always finding a place for what was the 3 lil ones at the time like 5, 6 and 7 or next year 6,7,and 8 to go. We never took the kids as we thought this was "our" time as the kids always got the disney /universal florida trips. We added a 4th to the addition 7yrs ago after our last cruise. So next week we are taking the challenge and going to cruise with kids 7 and youngest son now 18. I have no doubt we will enjoy and cherrish every moment with and without them LOL..........cheers!! Suzila
I'd say our first cruise was about 12 years or so ago. Our two sons were 13 and 12 by then and hubby and I were thinking about a quickie vacation without kids. We decided upon a Friday-Monday cruise down to Baja...it was the shortest one we could find. (we live in the Los Angeles area) Both hubby and I get seasick on small boats. We stood in front of the ship when we got to the terminal and almost backed out of the trip...all we could think of is 'what are we doing'? We went on the cruise and loved it so much when we got off the ship we went to the travel agent and booked our next cruise...with kids! We've been cruising ever since. Our next cruise is in just a few weeks...again, we're going down to Baja, for just a nice, quick getaway...Mon-Fri...without kids. Our youngest son just got married a few weeks ago and we sent he and his wife on a cruise for their honeymoon...The oldest is getting married in May. Yep, a cruise honeymoon.
