sewut51
I'm smiling just thinking about it. I met my husband in 1969 while learning to ski (snow ski). He was ahead of me in line for the rope tow. My skis were on top of his and when he grabbed the rope, he went face first in the snow. So we met on a ski lift. On the way home from the ski trip, he kissed me for the first time. First kiss was on a bus. Before he went to Vietnam, he took me to meet his parents. We were on a plane over NYC on the way home when he proposed. So he proposed on a plane. So when our 25th anniversary rolled around, we had to have some type of conveyance. We chose a cruise. That was 11 years ago. We'll be going on our 4th Carnival cruise in September. I can't wait. This time we're taking our grandson. Might as well get him hooked. Maybe we'll go on a space shuttle for our 50th... Sewut
Longboysfan
Wife first cruised on the Old Home Lines - Oceanic - This became one of the Big Red Boats. Before Disney made their own ships. While she was single. Well after we were married we went on the Old Volendam out of NYC. This was about 1978 or so. It was a great start. Crusing to Bermuda. I think we have Crusiised to Bermuda about 15 times. 3 Volendams - 2 Veendams - 2 Statendams - 2 Doric - 1 Oceanic - 4 Zenith - 3 Horizon - 2 Galaxy - 1 Millie - 1 Mercury - 1 Summitt - 1 Century and maybe a few others on Celebrity I forgot about - 1 Princess - 1 RCCl - 1 Zaandam. Mixed in here are a few extended cruises - over 7 days. I think I am about 29 weeks at sea so far - Wife is at 32 weeks. Three more week trips without me. But we find cruising is great - lots to do or not to do.

deb1220
So glad you bumped up this thread, Keith. I really don't remember what got us on the first cruise.... I think I was surfing online for a "different" Winter Break" vacation and came upon a good cruise deal. My DH was reluctant but once he got on that ship he was hooked and (obviously) so was I - that was in 2002 and we've been on 5 more since......still waiting for the next one.......maybe "Connie Goes CRAZIE!"? DebbieandJerry
Took a "mini" vacation over Valentine's Day in 1992. (LA to Encinada) Got hooked. Haven't stopped taking cruises since. No vacations compare (cost, places to visit, food, ambience, people, entertainment, etc., etc.)
Shaunna
I kind of feel weird commenting on this since I'm anxiously awaiting to go on my first cruise but I can say what has possessed us to start cruising. DH and I had gone through a rough patch and we realized we needed a vacation. We haven't had a decent vacation in four years. It was his idea and the more I read up on cruising the more I was sold on the idea and now look at me. I already know we will be addicted and can't wait to book our next one. lashl
Lynda's sister and husband invited us on our first cruise. We had been talking about going for years but with work, kids, parents living with us we never seemed to have time. We fell in love with cruising the first day and have never looked back. We sailed on the Carnival Miracle's first cruise out of Jacksonville. That was 4 years ago and we are getting ready to go on our 7th cruise in Sept. Guess we decided we had waited long enough! cruisingcats
Due to financial problems around our 25th anniversary we didn't do anything to celebrate. So about 2 years before our 30th anniv. we were is Seattle with my nephew who was visiting from Calif. and we walked down to the pier to go to the sea aquarim. On the way we past this ship docked at one the piers and couldn't believe how big it was. I commented that it might be fun to go on one. We talked about it off and on for the next year, then I asked dh is he would like to go on cruise to Alaska for your 30th anniversary and he said check it out and he would decide after I had all the information. Needless to say we booked the cruise for Alaska for August 2007 and had the best anniv. ever. We enjoyed it so much booked another one for Feb. 2009 to the Mexican Riviera on the same ship. I am so hooked he gets tired of listening to me about cruising. That is why I have you guys. Thank you!
