DaCruzNut
If you're sailing from the Port of Miami, or Port Everglades, this week-end, be warned....... We had a beautiful Thanksgiving! The sky was blue and the sun hot; with low humidity, temperatures in the 80's and a nice, brisk, breeze. We're expecting more of the same tmorrrow, but late tomorrow afternoon a cold front is supposed to come through. Saturday, we're only supposed to get up to the sixties! And, Saturday night we're supposed to dip into the FIFTIES! Did you hear me??? FIFTIES!!! Like, in half of a hundred! Same for Sunday. OK, let's see..... got to put anti-freeze in, and snow tires on, the car; put up the storm windows; get out the woolies, mittens and winter coat; maybe I'll start the car and come back in, while it warms up....... GottaCruz
Well that certainly brings back memories for us. BRRRRR.
BoatrideLover
We live about 25 miles south of Daytona Beach. Today it's in the low 80's, but we're getting that cold front and tomorrow's high is 60! Last Saturday, while we were decorating the outside of my mom's house, it was in the low 80's and sunny and we were miserably warm! So we did a little bit each afternoon this week on our own house so we didn't have to work in the heat anymore. The only thing left is the roof lights which my husband will put up tomorrow, and he'll probably be freezing while up on the roof!! Florida weather - you gotta love it!! GottaCruz
I do love the cooler weather and by cooler, I mean 70s-80s. Any cooler than that, I could do without. I'll have to start getting out my long flannel nightgown and pjs for the 50s. Brrrrr- we even turn the heat on sometimes in that weather. Hubby loves it , though , and the kids hope it gets so cold that it snows. ;)
Jason
Hip hip hooray!!! I've been looking forward to getting some cold weather for so long now! Living in South Florida all my life, I've never really experienced "a real winter". I'm used to 3 or 4 chilly days every winter and thats it. This cold front is a nice pleasant surprise!! I can't wait!
BoatrideLover
Jason - I totally agree with you!! Having been born and raised in Maryland, and living there for 28 years, and putting up with 12 degree winter days and nights, I simply won't complain about 40's or 60's. My husband, on the other hand, walks around complaining constantly about how cold it is. I love the change of weather and love the cold air...but hope it doesn't last much longer than through January!!
DaCruzNut
I enjoy a "chilly" evening, once in a while. Last year, one one of our "cold (50's)" nights, we lit a nice fire, in the living room; put on some soft music; and toasted marshmellows. It was so nice that, this year, I'm getting a fireplace! . . . . By the way, do you know the story of the "fireplace?" It was invented by two redneck brothers, Clyde and Lem Furnace. After they invented it, Lem turned to Clyde and said, "Gee, what are we gonna call it?" "Well, gosh'" replied Clyde, "it's a fire place, so why..." "Great!" interrupted Lem, "A fireplace!" GottaCruz
This is kinda weird....I hope the forecasts are still correct about that cold front coming in....its already past 9 PM and it's still hot and humid. Hopefully the temp. will lower significantly within the next few hours.
sailingrose
Washing my flannel pajamas as I type. Central Florida (near Pt. Canaveral) will be only in the mid 60's tomorrow. BRRRRR. I agree that in the 70's is beautiful but once we hit the 60's I'm COLD! Glad it never lasts too long here.
DaCruzNut
The latest forecast isn't TOO bad.... The front is 1/2 way through the state, just south of Tampa/Lake Okeechobee/Daytona, and headed south. No rain is associated with the front, except a small line of broken showers that has already come through. By Saturday morning, South Florida will hit a low of 58-60, warming only to the mid-60's during the day. Saturday night will also dip to the low 60's and Sunday will also be in the mid-60's. By monday we should be warming up, into the 70's. By mid-week we'll be back to the usual high-70's to low-80's...
