 We're going on Feb 22 and we've never cruised before. Do men really where suits every evening? We are driving so I guess we'll take our own luggage aboard. Do they search it? I've read confilicting messages about people taking liquor with them. I'm interested in any info about anything. Thanks, joeclick.

You only need to wear a suit on formal nights--which is usually two for a seven day cruise. You should tag your luggage with tags provided with your cruise documents and drop your luggage off at your terminal. The baggage handlers will deliver to ship. You are only allowed to bring small carry on, same as at the airports.

On our last cruise we did bring on a bottle of cognac via our tagged baggage, no problem. We did wrap it in bubble wrap and covered it in plastic in case it broke.

Hi Joe, are you driving to the pier or flying into LA from out of town?

We live in California and drive to the pier. We check our suitcases with a porter right at the curb and then check on board the ship. You can check your luggage and then go park the car. It's pretty simple, not too busy and lots of help.

Two formal nights on a seven day cruise, suit or tux. The other nights casual, those awful Dockers or slacks, jeans etc.

We sailed on Pride last March, she's a beautiful ship. Ditto on the other replies, 2 formal nights~suits or tux for men, ladies~cocktail dress or gown and they should bring a sweater or wrap~ the diningrooms are cold IMHO. Your baggage gets checked at the curb. So far we have had no problems with bringing a couple of (plastic) bottles of liquor in our checked luggage, don't put it in your carry-on.

Enjoy your cruise, you will love the Pride...some people think the decor is a bit overboard (no pun intended), but I loved it!
