Ft. Lauderdale will be welcoming the Queen Mary at 7:00 AM. tomorrow morning.

The newspapers have let the publlic know that noone will be admitted to the port to view the ship. Some of the condos that are near the port already have huge welcome signs erected and hotels in the area are gearing up for lots of business. Travel agents will be touring the ship and many celebrations are planned . We will be watching it all on our TV. :cheesy:

Yes, we, here in South Florida, are ready for the big arrival! A local High School Band will be greeting her, alomng with the Governor, and a bunch of dignitairies! Fireboats wil spray plumes of water in the air, and thousands of locals are expected to be waiting to greet her...

The sun will just be rising, at 7:00 am arrival time, and the temperature is forecatset to be in the mid-50's...warming to mid-70's by noon.

It is always soooooooo exciting when a brand new ship sails into your home port for the first time. We only live about 60 minutes from Port Canaveral and whenever a new ship sails in, it is all over the news. I can remember getting up very early and watching the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder sail into port and most recently the Carnival Glory and RC Mariner of the Seas. But my favorite "first time arrival" of all time was the Carnival Pride, since we sailed on her inaugural 7-night sailing to the Eastern Carribean!

I hope all of you in south Florida have a great time watching her!!

I'm a naughty boy...but, I just couldn't resist.

I was driving on the Florida Turnpike to work, this morning, and was passing the I-595 exit, that goes to Port Everglades... My car, suddenly, took an unexpected right turn, onto the exit, and due east.

The traffic, near the Port, was pretty bad, but I was able to park and get to the 17th Street Bridge, along with crowds and crowds of excited onlookers.

All I can say is, "WOW!"

It's sort of like 'cruise control.'

If I'm on I-95, going north, my car automatically turns off at NW 2nd Avenue and heads right for the Port of Miami. Sometimes, it's all I can do to keep this from happening.

Likewise, when I'm on the turnpike, as I get to I-595, Skippy (that's his name) always tries to head east, to Port Eeverglades. I have that battle every morning! Fortunately, I lost the battle, Monday.

The "Grand Old Lady," was fashionably late, and arrived about 8:00 am...
