Free air, water and maps....

We've had a few "nostalgic" posts, lately, and they seem to be popular. So, I thought I'd try this one....

DO YOU REMEMBER WHEN:

You pull up to the pump, and a pimply-faced high school boy would 'bop' over. "Can I help you, Sir?" "Sure, fill her up and check the front."

The attendant would pop the hood, check the water, oil, etc; Then, he'd clean the windshield, with a big grin, while chewing on his Juicyfruit.

The tank full, he'd remove the hose, close the cap and walk over to the window; "Took 14 gallons sir; that'll be $4.20." You paid the young fellow, and he handed you a free mug, with a fill-up.

Need a map? Walk into the station and take one off the rack; they're free...

Air? Water? Well, of course, they're free. Imagine charging for air!

I sure do remember I was one of those kids pumping the gas, checking the oil, cleaning the windshield and pumping air into the tires. I didn't like chewing gum so I wasn't chewing the juicyfruit.
