DaCruzNut
The earliest record I have of my family going on a cruise was when my maternal grandfather and grandmother arrived in the United States aboard Holland America’s Rijndam, in 1905. My grandfather in December and my grandmother in July. The Rijndam was built in 1901, by Harlan & Wolff, Ltd., the company which built the Titanic, for Holland America Line. She was 12,500 grt, 575 feet long, 62 feet wide and carried 2,282 passengers; First Class=286; Second Class=196; Steerage=1,800; total=2,282 passengers. DaCruzNut
I've done a lot of work on my family geneology over the past few years. If you have family that came from Europe, through Ellis Island, check out: http://www.ellisisland.org/ They have a lot of records, free, online!
