A newspaper in Miami, where Norwegian Cruise Line has its operational headquarters, reports that the shipyard where the Pride of America sank has filed for bankruptcy.

The Miami Herald reports the Lloyd Werft shipyard in Bremerhaven, Germany, said Monday that Norwegian Cruise Line owes it so much money that the shipyard has itself become insolvent.

NCL told the paper it made payments which were appropriate given the fact that the ship is not being delivered on time.

Lloyd Werft aims to refloat the Pride of America this week. The ship sank in a gale last month, going to the bottom of shallow water at the dock, submerging three of 15 decks and soaking the engines and wiring in salt water.
