I flew yesterday, and one of my fellow passengers used a wheelchair. She boarded the flight early with her husband, and the wheelchair was taken off and "gate-checked." At the end of the flight, it was waiting for her on the ramp leading from the plane and I'm pretty sure the ground crew was going to bring it back on board for her once everyone else had disembarked. This was on United.
