hazelson
Hi all - new here myself - nice to meet you (shaking hands now with all of you) Has anyone used the "patch" to ward of seasickness? I bought mine last week for our first cruise - Carnival Glory, Feb. 28th, and I tested it for 72 hours and had no illaffects - except that my eyes felt a little dry. I didn't have any dizziness and I could read just fine. I am near Vancouver, British Columbia, and we don't even need a prescription for them up here. I even tried reading in the car (with my dh driving of course) and I was just fine - I can't normally read in the car at all. I read some other message boards and they had some scary stuff to say about the patch - almost didn't try it but am glad I did - now if it only stops me from getting seasick. Happy Cruising to all - Jennifer
Slainte
HI, and welcome to the best cruise community on dry land, or at sea for that matter  ! I have never used the patch myself, but friends have and said they work well with no side effects in their case. That was great that you did a test run, sounds like it should work well for you. You will have to tell us all about Carnival Glory...I am booked for March 27th!!! Have a wonderful cruise, don't forget to post it on the calendar so we can send you off in style with a "BON VOYAGE" from all your new friends here at CruiseCrazies!! DaCruzNut
Hi, Jennifer! First, welcome to our CruiseCazies family! With regard to "the patch," I've never used it, myself, but have spoken with a large number of people, aboard ships, and they all have told me that they have had no ill effects from its use and it is effectice against seasickness. I have alos had similar discussions with people about the wrist bands, and they, also, tell me that they are very effective against seasickness, and, of course, have no ill effects. GottaCruz
Hi there, Jennifer. Welcome aboard and we're very glad to have you as a member of CruiseCrazies. I've used the patch also and it worked great for me. I never had any side effects at all. My mom has been using it every single time she cruises, for the last 20 years, has never gotten seasick and never had a single side effect. Because of an inner ear problem, she never thought she'd be able to cruise. On my Mom and Dad's honeymoon, about 55 years ago, they sailed to Europe and my mom was sick the entire voyage and they had to fly home on the return. Since using the patch, she has never once gotten seasick. I hope this helps. Hope to see you posting here often and looking forward to gettting to know you. Sincerely, Cheryl

PEB
Hello Jennifer. I have used the patch and I am one of the people it causes problems for. The patch will have cause the biggest problems with people who have high blood pressure, which I am one of. It can cause sever dizziness and mess up your ability to see properly and read, but as I said it is usually with people who have high blood pressure. dreamer
Question, can you drink ( a glass or two of wine, not a case of beer ) when using the patch?

KeithnRita
Rita wears the patch and drinks a glass or two of wine at diner. Not to mention the umbrella drinks during the day or the pre-diner martinis, or the after diner cognac. In other words--she drinks what she wants on a cruise with no ill effects from the patch. We aren't party animals, we just do a little unwinding while on a cruise!
