anne60
Hello- My best friend and I are looking into a moms/kids cruise, since neither of our husbands are interested. We would like to find a "kid friendly" cruise, leaving late June or July. We have no preference as to where we go, or whether we leave from our home port (Boston) or have to fly, whichever ends up being more economical. The cruises I have seen leaving Boston are all 6-7 nights, so maybe flying and doing a 3-4 night cruise would be better. What we are most concerned with is finding a cruise where both our kids and ourselves can have fun. We are not into casinos or staying out late...more the good food, good sun, good book types. Our kids are all pretty lively, athletic, and would need some activities that let them expend energy. Kids ages are 12, 10 and 8, we will also have an 18 year old daughter with us, and (possibly) her friend. Any help would be appreciated, also some guidebook recommendations too. Thanks! KeithnRita
Anne60, Welcome to CruiseCrazies! It sounds like maybe a Disney cruise would be a good fit for your group. http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/disneycr...eservationsRoot We have not cruised on a Disney ship, however, we have heard only great things about their cruises. Also, there is no bad cruises, only good and great cruises!

DaCruzNut
My first thought, like Keith & Rita, was Disney. There are no casinos aboard, and they are geared to both family and adult fun. There are specified 'adult only' areas, where parents, and those traveling without children, can spend their time, including a dining room. My one reservation is that 10 & 12 year-olds may be a little "sophisticated" for that "Disney kid stuff..." If not, I think Disney would be perfect. A good second choice would be Carnival. Their "Camp Carnival" program is excellent, and thtey even have a teen group for the 12year old. Their food has improvroved immensely over the past few years and they have, for the most part, lost that Animal House/party-party reputation. PEB
I have to agree with the others that Disney and Carnival would be good choices. Disney may be a bit higher in price. Carnival kids programs are good and you can still find a quiet place onboard for relaxing and reading.
