hillorama
My husband and I just signed up to take a Crystal Cruise in July. It leaves from Dover, cruises around England, Scotland, and Ireland and ends up in Rouen, France. We just took a Seven Seas navigator cruise last November and they only had informal nights, the men wore suits, etc. This cruise is to have three formal nights, four informal nights and four casual nights. I'm stuck as to how to get my husband a proper dinner jacket that we don't have to fly overseas as the airlines seem to be getting pickier and pickier on the weight of our suitcases. Any suggestions? Has anyone ever been able to rent formal wear on the Crystal Symphony? Would appreciate any suggestions. Elena :undecided:
Shari2
Welcome aboard, hillorama! I would love to be going on Crystal with that itinerary! I know on some cruise lines, you can rent a tux onboard. I would think that Crystal would have that option. Maybe, you can check with Crystal, and see if they have that option, and how to go about it. I know that there is a rental online for tuxes that will deliver to your ship, but I don't have the address. I have heard others saying that they used it, and it worked well. I can look it up and see if I find it for you. I'll check back with you.
GottaCruz
hillorama, Welcome to our CruiseCrazies family. We're so glad to see you posting. WELCOME ABOARD!!!
Dan
www.cruiselineformal.com does the delivery to your ship thing, but Crystal isn't in their list. You could always give them a call, and see if they can or have added Crystal. I also suspect, given that Crystal is a higher luxury line, that they would offer onboard rental. On a related note, did you see Jason's post about the refurbishment that the Symphony is getting next month? Sounds like it will be real nice. hillorama
Thank you all for the welcomes and for the information. I guess if it came to it, we could buy him a dinner jacket and transport it, but what a pain! Our idea of dressing up is wearing clean clothes! (We're not really that bad, but fairly informal.) We are looking forward to the Crystal Symphony cruise and I did see Jason's post regarding the refurbishment of the Symphony. Until we went on the Seven Seas Navigator last fall, we hadn't been on a cruise for ten or twelve years. I figured we couldn't afford it. Not the money, the calories. However, on the Navigator, they didn't have midnight suppers and the emphasis didn't seem to be on food. Although the food was decadent. I was always able to get fruit for dessert if I wished, and only indulged in desserts a few times. Where I got into trouble was afternoon tea................but that's another story. Again, thank you for your interest and your help. Love, Elena

Shari2
Elena...I think the address that Dan gave you is the one I was thinking of. cruiselineformal.com If they don't deliver to the ship, it may be because Crystal has their own rentals onboard, so I would sure check into it. Good luck! I would love to hear a review of Crystal when you return and see how you liked the ship. I hope you have a great cruise! Next to a Mediterranean cruise(with a lot of Italy), I've always wanted to do a British Isles cruise.

KeithnRita
Elena Sorry, we can't help you on formal wear, as we have not sailed on Crystal. We think your TA should be able to get you rental info--make them earn their pay!
