dancing on the high seas

I'm going on a cruise to Alaska with mother-in-law in May. It's her first cruise and first trip anywhere. I've travelled a lot but haven't cruised.

Is it true that there are men hired to dance with women on cruises? Are there way more single women on cruises than there are men? Will a shy 70 year old woman perhaps be persuaded to take a turn around the dance floor?

Tamara, which cruise line are you taking? I've heard that Holland America has gentlemen hosts -- possibly other lines do, too.

Celebrity also has dance hosts on their longer cruises. On my last cruise on the Infinity, many women were dancing with them and having a great time. I'm sure they could persuade your mom to take a turn on the dance floor.

It sure is true that there are cruise lines that hire men as party hosts and to dance with the single women. An article appeared in the Miami Herald a while back about the hiring of these hosts and how they are screened, etc. I'm sure you and your mother-in - law will have a wonderful time.
