Welcome to CruiseCrazies, 4evercruzin!!

I haven't been on the Sovereign of the Seas or to Atlantis yet, (though I would looooove to stay there for a nice lil vacation) but I'm sure some of our members have, and will be able to help you out and answer any other questions you may have.

Once again, welcome to CruiseCrazies. Hope to see you sticking around!

4 ever,

I have been on the Sovereign twice. She is old, but still a lovely ship. The service was pretty good when I was on her. I enjoyed the piano bar, the disco, and the shows. From my recollection her atrium is done in brass, tan and wood and was pretty classy. the type of Atrium that you don't notice so much (unlike Carnival) The cabins are a touch small, but certainly easy to operate in if you organize your items when you board. The one thing that i did not like about the Sovereign was that it seemed difficult to walk around. I was always running into a dead end. No big deal, though.

As far as Atlantis, take a taxi from the Pier. Should be $4.00 and I believe it is now a regulated price. Either pay the $25.00 to walk around the dig, or risk being stopped by security. Many (even me, once) do not pay the money for the dig, but I think it is worth it as the Aquarium is very beautiful and not to be missed. As far as the Casino, it is big and beautiful. I do not know if it is "friendly" because I usually don't gamble too much in the Bahamas (Vegas rocks). WHile walking around, there are many shops and beautiful decorations. Atlantis is very large and nice. As far as the rest of Nassau, I can live without it. The straw market is not the same since it burned a few yrs ago, and the shops on the main drag (Bay St. ??) are just average. The one shop that I kind of like is the place where things turn a different color in the sun (Del Sol). Stay away from the mopeds (they are dangerous), but do try to eat some Conch. Its pretty good. Hope this helps. Enjoy the Sovereign.

We were just at the Atlantis at Thanksgiving time last year. We took the water taxi over to the island. However, I agree with Dennis, take a cab. Two problems with the water taxi:

1. You have to wait for the boat to fill up, and

2. It drops you several blocks from the hotel and you get to walk in the warm Nassau sun!

The cab will drop you right at the door!

Have not been of the SOS recently, did her October 2-16, 1993. I remeber being very impressed with her. She was the first of RCL's Mega-Liners and a proud lady in her early days. I'm sure you will enjoy her. The staterooms are on the small side compared to RCL's more recent ships, the the public rooms are great. :cheesy:
