mildavis
Hi everyone out there. Since everyone here is so informative I just know that you will have the answer to this question. Do you or do you not now need a passport for Barbados? Princess Cruises said they only required them for about a week. She assured me that a birth certificate and ID were all we would be required to have. Also, everything I read on the internet agrees. You only need a passport if you are staying there or if your cruise ends there. Then, a friend calls about a article in Kiplinger that says they now require them. UGH!! What's the deal??? Anyone out there know anything??? Milissa
JohnG
For a while they said everyone did, but about a month ago they said you only need a passport if your cruise originates there. Transit passengers/visiting on a port call, do not need a passport. Birth certificate with raised seal and a photo id will suffice. But, if you were to get sick while you were there and have to leave the ship when it sailed, you might have a problem. These days it is better to travel with a passport. And you only need the one document then. (Same answer people gave you on that other board.)
Shari2
I agree with John. If you are just visiting on a ship you don't need one, but I would sure want one in case of emergency. I got mine last cruise and there was no line, and we had it within a few weeks. I got it at the same place we have our drivers' licenses renewed. It's good for 10 years. It's very easy to get. I think it's a good idea to have one these days.
iriscruiser
I agree. There was such contraversy over get them or not, thatDH and I decided to get them. Plus his birth certificate is not in that great of shape. ( he carried it in his wallet folded 6 or 8 times for many years) We should be recieving them in about 4 weeks. It only took about 10 minutes and yes they are good for 10 years.
