Jason
PHILIPSBURG - Caribbean Princess, Princess Cruises' newest 'love boat', will make her inaugural call to St. Maarten on Wednesday, April 28. This is the cruise line's first vessel to be dedicated specifically to year-round Caribbean cruising with alternate cruising options in the Eastern and Western Caribbean. St. Maarten is regular stop during the eastern Caribbean seven-day cruise that also includes stops in St. Thomas and the cruise line's private island Princess Cays. The ship homeports in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The local handling agent is St. Maarten Ports Services N.V. The new 113,000-ton vessel made its inaugural voyage in the Western Caribbean on April 3 during which it made calls in Grand Cayman, Jamaica, Cozumel and Princess Cays. The ship has a capacity for 3,100 passengers. 'Love Boat' actress Jill Whelan christened the Italian-made ship on April 2. She has not only become the vessel's godmother, but the first christener to also become a bride when she marries fiancé Michael Chaykowsky onboard Caribbean Princess the same evening. Caribbean Princess provides a number of unique Caribbean touches including an outdoor 'Movies Under the Stars' screen, a special Café Caribe dining venue and a variety of island-flavoured entertainment options. Debuting on this ship is Princess' own in-house Lotus Spa.
GottaCruz
Jason, This sounds very interesting, especially since the shiip docks in Ft. Lauderdale. The dining revue and the movie under the stars sounds like things I would love. I wonder if any other ship does these things. I think they're great ideas.
