Brenda
Hi all.......I am a newbie to the board and never been on a cruise. My daughter and I do a mother/daughter trip somewhere each year and she suggested a short crusie this year because neither of us have the luxury of taking too much time off from work. We want to go around mid May. We just want to start with maybe a 3 or 4 day cruise. We live in Savannah, Ga. Is there anything leaving from this area or Florida east coast? What would be a good beginners cruise? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks, Brenda

Shari2
Hi Brenda! Welcome to Cruise Crazies! I always advise people to start with a 7-day cruise, because, it seems to take a few days to settle in and get used to the ship and where everything is on your first cruise, and you would be just starting to have the best part of the cruise when your cruise would end on a three or four day. That's just my opinion, though. I also have to fly from Minnesota, so it makes sense for me. For you, coming from Georgia, you probably will drive, so it would be better, but I still think it's better to take a 7-day for the first cruise. I have never been on a 3 or 4-day, so, I can't recommend a ship that does one, but there are a few Crazies here who have, so maybe they can help you. Most of the ships do leave from the east coast of Florida, but I don't think that there are very many ships that do a 3 or 4 day cruise, so your choices would be a little bit limited. To help you pick a ship, we should know what you are looking for in a cruise. Are you more interested in some party time, or are you more interested in good food and some relaxation time? I personally like the onboard service on Celebrity, because they have good food, service, and entertainment...but they are more laid back on the activites and late night entertainment. I'm not sure if they have a 3 or 4-day cruise, but I can check. I know some here have gone on the Ecstasy and the Facination of Carnival lines, and they do 3 and 4-day cruises, and they liked them, so maybe they will give you some helpful advice. GottaCruz
Brenda, The only cruise book I have in front of me is from Carnival. The Jubilee and Celebration iare sailing from May 20th on a four day cruise to Freeport and Nassau, departing from Jacksonville. There is also a 4 day cruise aboard the Fantasy to Freeport and Nassau leaving from Port Canaveral and a 3 day cruise from Port Canaveral on the Fantasy also. If you want to depart from Miami, you could do the 3 day Fascination cruise to Nassau, the 4 day Imagination cruise to Key West and Cozumel or the 4 day Fascinationto Key West and Cozumel. Anyway, Brenda, you have many choices. I'm sure whatever you decide will be great. If you have any other questions about cruising, that's what we're here for., so ask away. When you're booked , let us know so we can do the doc dance with you and Bon Voyage you as well.
GottaCruz
By the way, Brenda, we've done the 4 day from Miami twice since July aboard the Imagination and loved it.. DaCruzNut, one of our most-traveled members, has just come back from the 3 day Fascination and will be posting a review soon. He had a great time. You can also look in the Cruise Reviews section of this board for the reviews that Jason and I wrote about our Imagination cruises. Good luck , whatever you decide.
