biodox
My sister just told me tonight that she is about 5-6 weeks pregnant. And we are to leave on our cruise in less than two weeks (Apr.26th)... Is there anything we should know before we cruise (it's our first cruise!)? Any good meds for her to take if she gets queasy that is okay for preggo's to take? We are traveling on the Enchantment of the Seas with an aft suite on the left side of ship (facing front of ship) - something like room 8070 - it's has a balcony, etc. She's older (37 yrs) and it's her first pregnancy. Believe me, it is a "wonderful surprise," for her, and not really an "oops" per se. But, surprised nonetheless! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!! Dan
Definitely have her talk to her doctor about what she can take. There is some prescription morning sickness medication available, so taking that might also help with any seasickness. Also, those seaband wrist things (which I've never tried) could be used. I have no idea how effective they are, but they work on pressure points in your wrist to help alleviate motion sickness, so I'm told. We cruised when my wife was about 24 weeks along with twins, and she was fine (other than all the washroom breaks on the 9 hour drive to the ship LOL). KeithnRita
Congratulations to your sister! Like Dan said, she should talk to her doctor before taking anything. Have a great cruise--the three of you!

hazelson
That is just too cool - I wish her well - but how is she going to know if it's the ship or morning sickness? lol And just think she's eating for two now so it's all she can eat whenever she wants - lucky lady - I agree with everyone else - check with the doc - with all the weird stuff out their you can never be too sure espcially when it's such a special bundle of joy
Dan
My wife used to say "hey, I'm eating for 3 now". I would reply" yeah, but they aren't Dallas Cowboys linebackers"

sailingrose
Congrats on the wonderful news. There really isn't much you can take in your first trimester but if she's seasick crackers and ginger ale seem to help. Also my son swears by Ginger Snaps! We bring them everytime we sail. Tell her to get some just in case.
