Luv2travel
Hello everyone! Im new here at Cruisecrazies, let me tell you alittle about myself before I begin. My name is Joe, I live outside of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and I'm a big Disney World fan! lol. Infact, Im an active member in a forum just like CruiseCrazies, but for Disney fanatics. Anways, let me get back to Cruises. I'm ashamed to admit this but...I've never been on a cruise :undecided:  , lol. Infact thats the reason why Im here, to find out more about my very first cruise I'm going on this summer. I am going with my 2 aunts, uncle and 2 cousins on a Pullmantur Cruise in the Meditterranean for 7 days. The problem is, I've never heard of Pullmantur, nor could I find anything about them on the Internet! I know that they are a spanish company becuase their whole website is in spanish, so I can't understand a word it says! lol. I was wondering if anyone here has heard of or been on a Pullmantur Cruise, specifically the Oceanic ship. I've done alittle research on this ship and learned that it used to be call the Big Red Boat and was owned by Premier crusies before it went down the tube. Can anyone offer any help? Less then 2 months before I ship off and I know nothing about the ship or the excursions it offers (they are all in spanish!). help! Thanks, and I'm looking forward to gettign to know you all! Joe

BoatrideLover
Welcome to the boards!! I live about 60 miles north of Disney World and have seasonal passes; we've had them for 15 years and never get tired of going, so I understand your love for the place! As you can see by my signature, we have sailed on the Oceanic when it was the Big Red Boat! She was a wonderful vessel. The cabins on the Oceanic were a nice size with tons of storage. The dining room was just beautiful!! I can't tell you anything about the cruise line you are sailing on, but I can tell you that when we sailed on the Oceanic, we thoroughly loved her! Hope you have a wonderful cruise!!

Lisa63
Hi Joe! Before Oceanic was purchased by Premier (in the mid '80s), she was owned by Home Lines. I've read posts and reviews by many who have fond recollections of her. The ship was built in 1965. Pullmantur is a Spain-based company, as you learned, which purchased Oceanic in 2000 after Premier went out of business. In fact, Oceanic was the first of the Premier ships to be purchased after the company went under, and is the only one currently in operation. I've seen her several times, and she appears to be a fine ship.

Luv2travel
Thanks everyone for the great repliesand warm welcome! I've done alittle mroe searching and found a site that translates spanish into english for free. So now I can go to the cruise website copy some stuff, paste it into the translator and have it instantly translated into english! It's amazing! lol. I'm going to go to the library probably on monday and check out some books or DVD's about the countries or ports I'll be visiting. I'm the type of traveler that likes to learn every single detail of the place im going to visit before I go. If i dont, I feel like I'm gonna miss out on something amazing while I'm there. I guess I can legally qualify as a tour guide for Disney World, and Great Britian! lol. Boatride Lover- Thats awesome that you love WDW too! My family has the Florida Resident Play 4 Day pass. Hopefully we will upgrade to the Annual soon! Joe
