Does the shop on board the Volendam sell cigarettes? If so, do they sell Canadian brands and are the prices totally outrageous? Regarding the duty free shop on board, if you buy something there, can you use it right away? Does it depend what you buy? If you buy alcohol, you probably don't get to have it until you disembark. What rules apply if you buy ciggies or perfume or something like that?

You can take any purchase made in onboard shops to your cabin with you except alcohol, which is held till last night....a recent change. You can take cigarettes. But I didn't watch brands. I know they have Benson and Hedges. But you can order liquor before boarding for delivery to your cabin for use during the cruise. E.g. $19USD for 1 Lt bottle of Beefeaters Gin.
