I have an Olympus D-560 digital camera. I bought it a few months back but hadn't used it much and had to take the instruction book with me! I would never go back to a film camera. The wonderful thing about the digital camera is that you can look at the shot and know if you got it right. And if you have lots of memory on it you never have to worry about how many phots you're taking, no concerns about having enough film, etc. The quality of the photos is amazing.

We are just starting with digital. Bought a Nikon Coolpix 3200, with up to 12X zoom. Bought a 128 memory card to go with the 16 it came with, and an Energizer battery recharger for the rechargable batteries which was only $19 with four batteries.

My wife has always taken about 20 rolls of 35mm on cruises with her Kodak and paid for prints. She has bookcases full of albums. I just thought the camera would pay for itself in not having to print photos we didn't want. She just went to NYC for weekend and which one do you think she took? The Kodak, of course.

She'll learn.

I used to take around 400 pics on a cruise and developing costs were always around $120-$160. I then spent several days scanning them into my computer. Since we got a computer, I've always made up our photo albums using Printshop and not used the original prints(other than scanning). Going digital saves quite a lot of money and time. I do print out postcard size photos to send to people we've met on the cruise, but that is just a low number of prints.

We've used digital on four vacations and our cost savings is at least paying for memory cards, lens attachments and a few drinks of the day.

My camera eats up batteries. I have two rechargeables and on our last cruise the battery charger died on me the first day in San Juan. Fortunately, our first port of call was St Thomas and I was able to buy a new charger. The regular lithium batteries for my camera are $13 each and they last about two days!!

Cheryl,

My first digital was an olympus D-100, I still use it occasionally. It is a great little camera. It's not to expensive and it is still a point and shoot. You just have to open the cover ( which turns it one point and shoot. Try one you will love it. No more guess work as to weather you really got the shot or not, as you see it a nd can review it immeadiately.

I was thinking about a disposable digital and then Jason told me he probably won't be taking his digital camera back to college. He has an Olympus D360L with 1.3 megapixels. We bought it for him quite a while ago as a gift. Now , he needs to show me what to do with it. He says it has a Smart Media Card but I need to get a memory card reader. Now we're wondering if the Smart Media Card can be put into the slot on our printer and uploaded into the computer. I know it can normally be done but since we have a network, we have to figure it out since the printer is not connected to my computer. Jason is working till 10:30 tonight at Winn Dixie so I'm hoping he'll be able to figure it out and teach me. We'll see.......
