karbob
Have any of you ever had your paid for adjoining rooms taken away without permission? This happened to me recently and I am having a hard time getting it reversed, and the cruise departs in 9 days. It's my first cruise and I need advice. Thanks
sailingrose
Which cruiseline? Were the adjoining rooms a necessity? Don't know if you'll get them back since your sailing soon but they should offer up some kind of perk. Hope you have good luck with it. jbond
I would be very upset and raise all kinds of ####. Adjoining rooms with kids are important to us, and obviously to you. I would press the TA and Carnival to reverse the situation, and I would be very blunt about it.
Lisa63
I agree with jbond. How old are the kids? If they're younger than 21, I believe Carnival requires that they be close by. And then they separate you... I'd be pretty angry.

sailingrose
I agree! My kids are always directly across the hall from us and they are 17 and 19! No way would I accept that if they are younger. Shame on Carnival if they moved you. How did you find out that your rooms were changed? Agent, tickets, online? It'll help us all the know in case any of us have this problem. karbob
We received our tickets in the mail with the new room assignments so I called our agent who told us another agent at cruise .com gave carnival permission to make the change because it was a slight upgrade. Cruise.com has been extremely unhelpful. They are very difficult to get in contact with and act like its no big deal with what has happened. Is $200 in cruise credit adequate for all the hassel they have put us through? That's what cruise.com has offered.
jbond
We just got back from RCI Serenade of the Seas. Three days before we were due to leave, our TA called and said that RCI called her and said that they had oversold their balcony rooms. We had a balcony room on the "bump" on deck 9, booked a long time ago. They wanted us to take an outside room with a window on deck 3. This is what they offered. Complete refund of the cruise ticket price, refund of the cost of shore excursions we had booked, refund of our cruise insurance and $200 per person on board credit. We already had a $250 on board credit, so that gave us a total of $650. We had booked our own air so they didn't give us that back. We decided to take them up on their offer. It was a 15 day cruise and so they actually paid us $42 a day to cruise with them!!! I missed the balcony, especially on a cruise with seven sea days, but the offer was too good to refuse. In your case would I accept a $200 on booard credit, it depends? How do you feel about being separated from the kids. It will buy about 40 frozen drinks. Only you can make that decision. Lisa63
I'd hold out for more. But this is a tough one as it sounds like the travel agent, not Carnival, is responsible for the screw-up. That is, of course, if you told them to keep the rooms together, which I'm guessing you did as you want to be adjacent to your kids. In that case, the TA should have called you to let you know about the "upgrade." I never understood the assumption that upgrades were a good thing. In your case, it clearly isn't. How old are the kids, and how far away from them will you be?
