gogetter
Hello, First of all my wife is a cosmetologist. She did a brides hair for her wedding at Cocoa Beach. So here is my story....(trip report?????) The bride got married on June 1st at 7pm. (I know a Tuesday is weird...lol) So, of course i suggest we go Monday...Memorial Day....uugghh....and stay for 2 nights. This is a Holiday Inn Oceanfront Resort, on A1A in Cocoa Beach A very large property. 2 restaurants and 3 bars on the beach. Now it could be a long walk from the front of the property to the water. DISCLAIMER..this is what happened to us and our experience. May not happen all the time....and i do not get too hung up on bad stuff..i just keep rolling along.... Monday was a zoo. So many people. Large pool with a good sized kiddie pool. By about 2 pm the place smelled, from what i am not sure..... Found the typical clothes and towels on chairs and tables trying to save them. We of course get there early to avoid this problem...about 9 am Monday morning. Our normal routine for a trip like this is to get there early the first day, knowing our room isn't ready, but to enjoy the pool. Wrist bands were issued and i kinda laughed. Come to find out security was tight here. About 5-6 times the first day i saw people coming around asking to see wristbands. They found a few and asked them to leave NO COOLERS...B.S. i say, so i leave and go to my vehicle and make continuos trips to get my beverages. wife says it would keep me sober longer....lol.... Pool bar and restrooms easily available. HIGH prices...and to boot an 18% gratuity added to every drink and food bill....was i day dreaming and on a cruise???? I have never heard of a hotel doing this...so i am sheltered? An uneventful Monday night.....great rest...decent room...great air conditioning....clean....nothing bad to say say here...very satisfied. Next days room service...forgot hand and wash towels....didn't make up the bed really, just straightened it up....weird...i mention it and was rectified quickly......just wanted the towels...shoot i am going to sleep in the bed again...why make it up all the way???...lol... Tuesday at the pool was good, MANY less people.....Met people from NCL SUn or Dawn or some ship.....Port Canaveral was a stop? They charge $34 for this little excursion...no drink or lunch with that....others went to Disney.....others to Kennedy Space Center...so not a bad port really! Ship came from N.Y. Wednesday.....saw people from RCCL...... Service at the pool bar was great, with John, Brandi and Craig all doing a great job. Kari in the restaurant was great also when we went to have breakfast. WEDDING>>>>>>7 pm Tuesday night on the top deck on the beach. Perfect weather with a small breeze blowing. Couldn't really hear the wedding offical...but things went great. Reception went great also. Great food and drink....... Here is a question i pose for everyone........wedding ettiquette...... My wife did the brides hair 2 weeks before the wedding..no charge.....and then her and her mothers hair for the wedding....no charge. We paid for our room and all meals..... Would you consider that a proper wedding present? We did give a card with some money and gave a nice chunk on the dollar dance......so what do you think? Wednesday was uneventful.....i did notice the same clothes for 3 days at the pool. Never cleaned. All in all a decent few days....would not stay there for myself, but can see others having a nice time there.... Any and all questions welcomed....even comments...lol... DaCruzNut
Sounds to me as if your 'gift' was more than adequate! Twohair stylings have intrinsic value, and monetary value, and should be appreciated by the bride and her family!
gogetter
Hello, Thank you !
BoatrideLover
Your gift was more than enough; hair salons are extremely expensive today so that alone was a very nice gift, throw in the card with the check and your contribution to the dollar dance and you did plenty! KeithnRita
Gogetter, We agree--your wife fixing the Bride's hair was more than enough for a wedding gift.
Shari2
I agree with the others, gogetter! Hairdo's are expensive these days. That alone is a great gift! I quit going to the beauty shop and cut and style my own these days. Saves us a lot of money!

iriscruiser
I think yhat was a very generous thing to do. I would love to be on the recieving end of that gift. My dream was to be a cosmetologist, I went thru school but never got my licsense. Good and bad result from that. Good side my DH and both my DS have never been to a barber shop I do all cuts in this house. Downside I don't feel secure having anyone touch my hair.LOL.
