hazelson
Just doing some diggin into next year's trip - anyone know a good pre-cruise hotel in Long Beach or San Pedro area. Do any have shuttles to the pier. Also what's the best way to get from Lax to Long Beach - i.e. shuttle service. Remember folks - my dh is Scottish - enough said lol. sailinglisa
The cheapest way to get from LAX to San Pedro or Long Beach is to use a shared ride van like Super Shuttle or one of the other services available at LAX. You don't need to reserve one, just go to the area designated outside your luggage pickup area and dispatchers are there and they will call a van for you. Friends and I stayed at the Holiday Inn San Pedro on 11th St. - it was nice but there are other options out there. The HI does have a free shuttle to the pier, but I can tell you that a cab would be much more convenient. We sailed from the San Pedro side (I'm thinking that Princess now docks on the Long Beach side which would require a transit of the bridge) and the fare for two people including tip was $7.00 - will be more if you do depart from Long Beach. Dan
If you are sailing from Long Beach, how about looking into staying on the Queen Mary? With the possible exception of Vancouver, I can't think of a "hotel" that's closer to the ships than this. I've also heard that you can do your cruise check-in from the Queen Mary. What better way to prepare for a cruise than spend the night before on a grand ship? LOL
DaCruzNut
I don't know too much about the area, but I can advise you to stay away from the Hotel California....... Mirrors on the ceiling, The pink champagne on ice And she said 'We are all just prisoners here, of our own device' And in the master's chambers, They gathered for the feast They stab it with their steely knives, But they just can't kill the beast Last thing I remember, I was Running for the door I had to find the passage back To the place I was before 'Relax,' said the night man, We are programmed to receive. You can checkout any time you like, but you can never leave!"
hazelson
ROFL at Jeff - will try not to book at the Hotel California - but if they give a really good deal my DH might go for it. Thanks for the suggestions guys - marking it all down in the dream book - TTFN Jennifer
