Question regarding some costs once aboard

I am wondering whether we should rent a tux onboard or take a suit for my husband. Does anyone know what they charge? I know locally (Arizona) it's around $75.

Also, should we expect to pay from $20 and up for a bottle of wine or am I calculating too low?

From what I read the tipping is about $10 per day per person? Do you find it's more?

As newtimers doing our first cruise next year in May  I'm trying to get the facts and I appreciate the tremendous amount of information and help available here.

Thank You! Sandy

You and your DH might want to consider buying a tux, rather than renting it. You can pick one up, complete with shirt, stus, cumberbun, etc; for about $200.00. That's two rentals! After two wearings, the tux is "free."

If you choose to rent one, the cost aboard ship is about the same as on land, and you don't have to pack, and carry, it.

With regard to the wine...

Wine needs to be kept cool, dark and still. Motion stirs up the sediment and "clouds" the wine. A wine steward, aboard one of my early cruises, told me that is is a waste of money to order expensive wines, since they are in constant motion aboard a ship. Stick to an inexpensive, but good, wine in the $20-$30 range.

You won't be out of place by taking a dark suit for your DH. I have never rented a tux on board, so I can't answer your question on rental charges. After Rita and I decided we liked cruising enough to take 1 or 2 a year, I purchased a tux at the Men's Warehouse for about $300.00 with all the accessories, including shoes. $20-30 for wine is about what we pay. $10 a day per person is correct on tipping. Photos run from about $10 to $20 each. We budget about $100 per day for drinks, including wine, photos, and the casino.
