chillhouse
I did something really foolish when I left the Mariner last Sunday - I took home $350.00 of casino chips by accident!! I know I could use them again on another RCCL cruise but that might not happen for a very very long time. We do a cruise about every 1 1/2 to 2 years and the next one in 2006 could very well be on the Carnival Conquest out of New Orleans. And, knowing me, I might even lose them by the next time we sail on RCCL! So, if anyone is going on a RCCL cruise soon and wants to do some gambling, would you want to buy some chips ahead of time at a good cost? Make me an offer!! Please! Thanks!! DaCruzNut
Have you tried to call RCCL's "800" number, and have them connect you with the company that operates the onboard casino? I'm sure that you're not the first person who's done this (or the last!), and they should have some way that you can redeem the chips. TheSkipper
Lori, I think Jeff's advice is the best, contact RCI and see what they suggest. I am going on the Legend of the Seas in September and if worse comes to worse can cash them for you, assumming they would allow that. Have no need of them for personal use since I live in Las Vegas the last place I would go on a ship is the Casino. I am too close to the gaming industry and know all the odds to make donations there!
chillhouse
Skipper: Thank you for the offer but I posted on the CC board (you know, the OTHER board  that's not as friendly!) and I've got some offers to buy them from me - I asked for only $200.00 just so I can get something for them and have it be a good deal for whoever buys them. There is a discussion on whether these chips would be good on a ship other than the Mariner, though. So it sounds like I might be able to cut my loss a little! Wish me luck! Dan
Is there anything on the chips that say Mariner, or just RCI? I don't recall anything on previous cruises being ship specific, but then I never had chips in my possession long enough to get initimate with them LOL
FrankiRN
I read your post on x, and I thought that everyone was more than nice to you, and in no way unfriendly. Why the hostility towards x? I've heard that type of talk on another small cruise board and was hoping that this forum was different. And btw, chips are ship specific, at least the $1 chips I brought home from the Voyager and Brilliance are.
chillhouse
FrankiRN: I was pleased with the response from the CC board also. I've been registered with them for almost 4 years and have noticed a definite shift in manners over the past 2 years or so. I do not feel hostility towards the CC board, only trepidation. There were a few posts last year where posters were getting flamed over their own personal opinions, name calling, and some posts had even been pulled. For a while, it seemed that it was a small group of posters "picking" on alot who posted, myself included. I had written a review on the Voyager, 90% of which was positive. There were 2 negative points - one, our bathroom toilet kept overflowing, clean water, thank goodness, but it made the walkway in front of the bathroom/closet area and partway into the room extremely wet all week (and musty smelling), and two, the basketball court was closed the entire week for repairs (this was during a holiday week). The rest of the cruise was fantastic, as I had stated. We had complained and received a 35% off coupon for our next cruise, quite unexpected. That review sparked a debate about compensation, with some posters questioning my story, others calling me "cheap", and others calling those posters names, etc. I decided not to get into it after defending myself but mine was far from the only posting that this cat calling went on in. Other posters were called "trolls" if they posted a negative post their first time. Some probably were "trolls" (posters just trying to stir up trouble) but some were not. BTW, my review on the Voyager was far from my first post there, but it was nearly the last. And that is the main reaso Ii posted here first when i discovered those chips - an embarassing situation in and of itself - I did not want to get flamed over there. Unfortunately, there are alot more posters there than here but I trust CruizeCrazies posters more. Now, I have another dilemna for which i am looking for suggestions - if you have read my post on the CC board, you know that I have 2 or 3 people interested. How should I make the deal? I don't want to send the chips without receiving the money but I'm sure that whoever buys them doesn't want to send the money without receiving the chips! What a conundrum! Any suggestions? Thanks to all! PS I have looked at the chips and there is no ship name on them- just RCCL
FrankiRN
what you were talking about on the CC board was taking a big loss for those chips. That's not very fair to you and you'll lose big money. What I would do would be to take a picture of the front and back of the coins, proving that they don't have the ship name on them (which mine do, I just checked again). Then just get someone to buy them outright. Maybe drop it by $25 or so, but no more than that. They would still be getting a deal. Other than that, just save them for a future cruise. I know it may seem like a long time, but it's money in the bank toward your spending money, cause you can just cash them in and not even gamble with them if you choose. Good luck! chillhouse
I just want to let everyone know that this issue has been resolved! I called RCCL on Monday and they gave me an address and contact name to send the casino chips to and they will reimburse me. I think I just panicked when I discovered them! I felt a little less embarassed when a poster on the CC board said that she had brought home $220.00 worth! So, thanks to all for your suggestions.
