Carnival issues warning of employment scam

APCREDIT: Neal Vickers, WERC (Birmingham-AP) -- Officials with Carnival Cruise Lines are investigating claims that someone is using the company's name in a scam.

A Carnival spokeswoman says at least eight people have called the company in the past few days saying they were told they were being hired by Carnival. Five of those people say they've wired money -- often more than 250-dollars -- to a Canadian address to cover the cost of uniforms.

The company says the man making the calls often goes by the name Eric Shaw or David Roth -- but is NOT connected with the cruise line.
